I'm indifferent. I'm just not completely understanding your reasoning. It doesn't address a problem that needs solving. I'm confused by this request.

Smitten, I don't know if that is true or not.

I see where you're coming from on your original post, but personally I am fine with the Forums being open and to answer your question as to why, I will say that everyone comes from a different walk of life. Not every single Yoworldian is a social butterfly like those who post here in Forums. There are players, I'm sure, who probably read things and get answers to questions they might have, yet are not comfortable with posting themselves or being known. If someone wants information or enjoys simply reading along for the sake of something to do, but don't care to post or participate for whatever reason, I don't believe they should be forced to.

If there is something you would rather not have the "lurkers" see, simply don't post it publicly, instead private message what needs to be said to whoever you want it said to. As to not wanting the whole world seeing your supporter badge... I don't see why it bothers you? You were a strong advocate for wanting your badge to show and if it doesn't bother you having us fellow Forumers see it, it should be just as fine for non posters to see it and who knows... it might even motivate them to support the game just by seeing your badge advertised.

Just my thoughts...

Totally understandable as to the sense in not making it private! Thanks Gary.

From one point you are right but from another point you are wrong.

Forums should be public since some people don't want to be a member here on forums but they want to check the/for updates.

We should have some privacy tho too, as other peeps said we should have an option if we want to be in invisible mode or online mode (as we had on yoville forums) also we should have the option to hide our gold/silver status since some will be target for beggers.

You say you don't get good along with one person why don't just talk and be friends?

But in general yes i think that this is why we also should have a block option here on forums of which we can block the person, ie they will can't reply to our threads or quote us or just don't see our posts in general.

Adeline (113719515) wrote:It is my understanding that to view what is going on in the game, you need to be signed in. Therefore, anything I am doing in there is visible only to those signed in. I believe this should be set up the same way. I don't need the world, for instance knowing if I have or do not have a gold supporter badge. I do not need those who have been banned to know my thoughts about banning or anything else involving me. I have no idea if anyone is interested in my comings and goings on here but I would feel better if I knew that only those willing to commit themselves by signing in and being known are viewing what I am saying and doing. In game we interact with many people - most of whom, it seems do not post here. I can understand their need to see the rules and any game updates but in my opinion they do not need to see if I am - purely for example sake - getting along with Samberg.
Perhaps more would become part of this community if they had to sign in to read what is written here. I would love to see more here. I would love to see a more complete and therefore realistic view of what the players think and feel.
We are almost inbred.

i get what you're saying, but any time i've been part of a bulletin boards in the past where you *have* to be logged in, i have always had issues with getting locked out, never to be able to return again... i used to think it was because i used to be on dial-up internet, but when i joined the Zynga bbs that was no longer the case (and i cleared cookies, etc. to no avail). On bbs' in the past, the issue was somehow fixed when another friend with a different IP logged in first and checked off for me to stay logged in,then i was able to log in from my computer--while they were still logged on--and that fixed it, but as long as this game is connected to Facebook, i really don't want to have to resort to that given the information that Facebook stores within your profile! None of my friends that i trust to THAT extent play YoWorld (which is their loss, btw!).
I wasn't banned on those boards, just somehow not able to log in, and without knowing why it actually happens (and how to fix it another way) i fear it happening again. :( I like being able to post here and give my opinion on things... at least on the Zynga board i could read the posts i could no longer participate in, but closing the board off to lurkers means that if it happens again, i (and possibly others) could potentially be completely shut out on any info about the game.

Besides, the ID number we're given here is (to my understanding) not connected to the Facebook profile numbers (or names if you went that route), so i don't understand the privacy issue?? If, for example, i was using my real first AND last name (Carrie is my real name) then yes, people could search on Facebook and know about the yocash thing, etc.,but how could anyone do this otherwise? It seems to me like it would be a very difficult thing to do, but perhaps BVG can comment better on this.

Is there a valid reason to make the forums private? No.

All of the arguments in favor of keeping the forums public make sense.

If you're concerned about your personal privacy, don't use your real name in game/on forum. If you're worried about someone in your family seeing that you are a Gold Supporter (or any type of Supporter, even the generic kind), then you might just have other issues to contend with... maybe... which I'm not going to speculate on... :?
