They had NO choice.

Oh I agree

There's always a choice!

You'd be incorrect. I don't know Canada law, but in the US any business with servers that identifies child porn on any device must contact the FBI immediately. This is usually followed by forensic analysis of the server(s) that can take days, up to and including removal of the physical servers and all related back ups.

If that isn't shutting down the game, please tell me what is?

On the contrary, you are incorrect. There is always a choice.

Did you read the comments you quoted or are you absolutely fine with the kind of stuff that might be the reason for the boards being disabled?

If there is crime and legal stuff involved, it's serious. If there's the potential for a lawsuit, it's serious. BVG is clearly already struggling and if they get into this kind of trouble . . . . Do you want to see the game shut down? None of us like the idea of the boards being disabled, but isn't it better than the possibility of the game going bye bye?

I agree 100% Lisa. Much better for 1 portion of the game to stop working than the whole game. I know what it's like to lose things that you really loved about the game. I'd rather lose what I lost when my acct. got archived than to lose the game itself.

Agree totally! i lost as much as anyone here regarding the paintboards and if i can suck it up and get on with it so can everyone else. We still have the game. BigV says they will try to make it good.

Just because your over it dose not mean everyone eles has to get over it. This is one of worst thing can happen to anyone in this game and they should not get shut down by people expressing there feelings over again.

The "sting" of losing paint boards the way we did is harsh. I absolutely understand the emotion and frustration with it. I would like to think we all felt it to some extent, and if we didn't then we can at least empathize with the suffering. And it doesn't help that BVG hasn't specifically detailed why. I realize they are possibly dodging legal culpability, but that is small potatoes in comparison to the real time angst of the masses.

People will "feel" this differently for a long time. There will be venom, there will be healing, and there will be sunshine. Many people have moved on and reconciled the loss. Others not so much. They are gonna hold on to their pain like a pitbull on a beef bone.

What is certain is that no matter what anyone posts, threatens, or postulates, BVG is going to do whatever the hell they want. We are all just pounding sand. Hopefully they eventually figure out, but for now they chose what they think was the lesser of 2 evils. It was a "lose/lose" decision either way.

I have left my paint boards right where they were in the blind hope they will return to me. And they do tear off the scab when I see them. I do hope whatever it was, was serious enough to justify the sore spot BVG inflicted on all of us. I think it was, because that is the only rational answer. If BVG is going to start being irrational, then there is no hope at all.

You just keep disappointing and disappointing us.

I left the game 5 years ago because you ruined it, and i am trying to log in lately, and it looks even worse. I am very sad cause this game did so many good things to me but you are taking everything away. I would love to come back , but it is not worth it. the beautiful things are already gone and all designs look so cheap and are the same. I miss zynga times, it did the best job.

You are entitled to your opinion, but mine disagrees. I think we get much higher quality in general than we ever did with Zynga. There are definitely exceptions, but as a rule there's no comparison in my book.

Have you seen what happens to companies that "choose" not to follow the law and cooperate with the authorities when it comes to child porn? I have. It cost the responsible executive his job and eventually the business filed for bankruptcy. So yeah, of course they had a "choice". That choice has consequences....

:haha:

Even just allowing (adult) porn, or what someone considers porn. to made viewable by dissemination to minors (in this case an internet game) is against Federal Law (but also can use the 1st Amendment defense by having X,Y, Z value). It is nowhere near the level of enforcement (to be understated) of child porn (otherwise the porn sites would not have such easily bypassed "are you 18+?" click the buttons). Likely the former is not even regularly enforced over a few pics or minor offenders (it would be an extreme backlog I imagine) whereas the latter is an immediate bringing down of punishment by the Feds (as well as there is no 1st Amendment defense). The link is only on US Federal law, I don't know Canadian or broader international law without googling more.

Maybe make them unsharable and VIP ONLY. Or test run on month and we all can behave and not test the system?

There are rooms that are for grieving in real life. Memories gone from users that have DIED. This is not acceptable to lanyone. They go to those houses to grieve. I have a paintboard from a dear friend, it's now gone. Take out the feature that others can edit. This is really not cool. :heartbroken: :heartbroken: :heartbroken:

This desire to return to a better time is infecting the whole world. Do we really need it here too?

Yup. Also the entire time Zynga owned the game, all I heard about was greedy Zynga for having the nerve to make some items yocash. The complaining was every bit as bad as it is now.

I should have said "what we perceive " to have been a better world. Agree with you - complaining was just as bad. And Zynga's intent was to shut us down.

Nicely put - I feel the same, I'm pretty sure the files are intact but in an inaccessible directory till this is sorted out. I managed to find most of my original files and have them set aside in the event I'm wrong. Standing by...

What I don't understand...

If yall knew players who were violating the TOS, then why punish EVERYONE, you knew who was doing it, punish them, not the whole community!

I think there's MORE to this than what's been said. Otherwise the above is what y'all WOULD have done. There was a specific reason y'all had to delete ALL the paintboard art.

Well, anyway, maybe add a feature where the paintboards have to be approved before they can be saved? Then they get locked and un-editable for the player? Ugh but that would take 3 weeks of coding and a new-hire just to look at 1000's of PBs a day.

I'm sure it will be fixed, yall WILL find a solution of some sort, I have faith in yall.

This is terrible. We should have been given a warning. Those who abused the boards should have been punished not all of us.
Because of all the hard work put in creating these boards, we should be compensated for them.
They enhanced all of my homes greatly and now they are gone. FIX THIS!

For you that continue posting that BVG should punish those misusing the boards - THEY HAVE.

Paint boards WEREN'T DISABLED because of what WAS done. They were disabled because it COULD HAPPEN AGAIN.

BVG has to develop a way to PREVENT people from loading images onto BVG's physical servers that are a risk to the business, or else do away with paint boards entirely.
