From a security perspective not a bad idea - we don't want hackers etc to see our id number. But there are many older people who are technologically challenged and already they feel overwhelmed, so to add another layer to them getting in makes it that much more difficult for them.

Yes I like to know how vulnerable our ID #s. If only players can log through facebook account or using fb connect, meaning if something went wrong it could be just among players and not a non-players. Unless a player will screen shot or take down notes of some stuff and will show to non players for whatever reason they may have.

For sure it has pros and cons. One pros is mentioned above then one cons the potential new players may not see it but the for folks who like to have for fun hacking or anything can just take a peek whats up going on.

I guess TSS- the sims social had this kind (only logged on players can read) of forum. Then I guess the blocking could served its purpose. Since if you are in log off, I guess folks can see/read everything? So if the "system" is you can only read stuff if you are logged, then all folks blocking each other may never read each other posts.

RE the important info, maybe the announcement part is accessible for reading. About the proposal/op Im 50/50 since it might give security at certain point.

It does not bother me at all if the forums become private or not. I just want an update if/when that happens and I'll be good lol.

a forum was made for players to voice their opinions, helping others and finding help they need. Also as a way to make contact with other players.. if you want privacy..send private messages to people you want to talk to... if the forums became all private..what would be the use of them anymore?

It still serve its purpose and use but with just extra security.

Its like when you check-in you get key card and only people with key card can enter the elevator. Everyone can go to lobby of a hotel and escalator. But only folks who check-in or log on can read and have access. BVG can determine who are reading because only people who are logged have access to read. So if people are banned, its somehow tough to have access.

To add: in another perspective it might encourage other players too since they must to have in game account as pre-requisite before they can fb-connect to read the forums. Thats if something so enticing to read that will push them to play the game and make a yo account. :D

We older people aren't technologically challenged, we have had to learn pretty much everything that has been invented since the rotary phones and transistor radios! We are just tired of learning new stuff.

Edited to add: if I am looking up a game on the internet, and had to sign in to a site to be able to read about the game I would just move on to the next one. I think it would be detrimental to drawing more players if the forums were private.

Or we just dont see the sense in changing something that works perfectly well, just to be changing it!
