i like this challenge. you're cleverly getting us out of our bubbles into socializing and visiting other ppl's homes.
a lot of awkward players though, like me, who forgot how to socialize LOL it's either that or i can't stop rambling...

good to know i wont be wasting my time on any of those again

Only one winner and one runner-up. Not even a token reward for entering. And the next one will be based on creating an event? I'm out. Not worth the effort.

How to Find an Event

click on the clipboard icon, then the events list will popup to the right, find one that has the word "Botanical" in the title and click to join the event. You can scroll up and down, and hovering over them you can see who is hosting event and if there is a description, how many minutes are left.

If there are few minutes left, don't stay long, find another one that is active.

you can go and hang out, chat, meditate, leave and find another one, however the more time we spend at each one the more likely we reach the community goal.

You're welcome robin!

To Start an Event

Choose a suitable room, a garden or outdoor room with places to sit preferred, since if it's a sociable welcoming place ppl like to sit down... they will stay longer if they can find a place to hang out. You must create your event while in the room you are creating it in, however you don't need to stay if you don't want to.

Click the clipboard icon again

Click the blue botton that says "Start An Event" on the list of events to the right

Then choose event category (I choose "Room Showcase" for these botanical events, but doesn't matter)
..... type in a title that includes the word "Botanical", include a description (anything, something needs to be typed here), and select event type, regular probably unless you are VIP (VIP might run longer, has a star in front of it when listed), whatever is cheap. It will show you the cost of your event. For VIP i think it's free.
Then press Create (this button turns blue to click on it once you've filled everything out). It should run for at least 20 minutes. I think I had a VIP event up and it went longer than 20 min.

Once event is started, you can click on the name in upper corner, you can edit it or end it early

Edited to add: My event has been going on for 19 minutes (hovering over event on the list) and still has 41 min to go, so VIP events go for an hour for free! WOOT! I just need to hang out somehow, while doing housework (away from keyboard), i'll hide somehwere LOL.

Thank you again Loie, you were reading my mind, only question how to you connect the outside room you want to use if it is connected to your house, say back garden??? I am truly sorry to bother you but this is all new to me.

It can be any room within any house, just be standing IN the room you are creating the event for while you are creating it.

The event will be in that room and players will land in that room. If you want them to tour the entire home, they can but I don't know if that time they spend elsewhere will count towards this "Botanical" event challenge.

you're very welcome robin!

i'm so happy to help. i played for like a year before realizing there were garage sales i needed to be going to to collect old stuff i'd missed out on (started after 08 stuff was gone). And i thought i was late in learning events LOL

it's ok to have gone w/out the events, they aren't what they used to be. most of what i enjoy about the game doesn't involve events.

this community challenge has been a lot of fun. i'm enjoying sharing my rooms but also seeing what others are sharing, i've seen some stunning gardens so far.

I’ve already hosted a couple events for this challenge and have had several people popping in and saying hello. My question is this: how long do you have to stay in the events for it to count? If I’m hosting, then I’m staying there the full 20 mins and greeting my attendees, but after I want to pop into others to support them for hosting, how long do I have to stay? And how is it counted? Just the number of events (20 mins) until we reach the required hours? I’m a little confused on this part. Any help is appreciated. Thank you!

Me too! I went to some beautiful rooms, and hosted one event so far. Lol....I too, have been in the bubble. But peeps are interacting and it was quite fun! Very far removed from the very chaotic sale event I co hosted with my sis many years ago! I tend to stay away from events for that very reason alone!! :haha: But it is very nice seeing what fellow Yo's want to showcase other that what we typically see in the gem voting.

Thanks!

I'm going to stay a few minutes at each event, chat with the host if they're around and leave them a message telling them my favourite part of their botanical garden.

OMG!!!! Go to events! You might meet "famous" Yo's at them! I just met ShiNo from Italy. You may have seen his NPC's in the game.

my room is soooo old LoL
its from 2017 and there was a bug on me
I invited people to tour , may as well its an old home seems silly it being there and not looked at
I used to do events a lot to add buddies but since we've been doing gems adding I've not really bothered
Hubby used to do Wishlist events all the time and they'd be so full I couldn't get in
Sadly last time I looked at event list ( last week) there was a total of 5 events up so this is great

Can someone please explain how this works, how it's counted the rooms that I have been going to there's no one there to interact with. A little clarification would be nice before it ends
