Thanks OP. Hope some of the concerns here can be commented on.

curious: who is threatening you? I think people who aren't nice to other people should perhaps feel warned (not really threatened).

If you are reasonably respectful of folks in general...its all good...

right?

Very well said.
There was no threats issued, and no one should feel threatened here, just relieved.
Be kind and courteous towards others in your responses and you are fine.

If you feel you must be confrotational and degrading to communicate your point, well that is a problem.
If you feel you must call your friends to help you be confrontational and degrading someone else's opinion, that too is a problem.

Those who have been guilty of this in the past, well now you have time to think it over and just be kind and courteous, and respectful to others, and all will be ok.
I saw nothing threatening in what Gary had to say to us all. I applaud it, and welcome it.

I am missing something..... please feel free to elaborate on what you mean. It is frustrating to say the least to have your ingame acct held 'hostage' (if you will) by how someone else wants to interpret what you are saying. I am sorry you cannot see where some are genuinely concerned with this.

^^ Reported you for bullying.

Assuming everyone who disagrees with the new rule is a "bully"

It is clearly a baiting statement!

That's simply illogical and not true at all. I have never had an issue with anyone on Forums here or Old alike. I get along with everyone fairly easily, I do however, observe much of what goes on and I see many that want to point fingers at others who are just as much at fault. I see those who have a score to settle relentlessly trying to bait some into confrontations. So no this statement doesn't ring true at all.

Having said that, I just sat here and tried to think of a situation where someone was TRULY bullied. I can not think of one.

Were there situations that people have been called out for having alts and using those alts to play head games? Yup.
Were beggers called out on the forum? Yup.
Did scammers and hackers get told things they didn't want to hear about their behavior? Yup
Was baiting pointed out when some players were trying to get a rise out of others? Yup.
Did players speak up when those who faked illness and death to gain pixels were found out? Yup.

There are many, many more situations to list, but the point is there are no victims. There are many who want to play victim when they are called out for their behavior, but they give as much as they get. If you don't want conflicts, then don't create them. Take ownership of your own behavior and realize that people will speak up when you are caught being manipulative. That does not make them bullies any more than it makes you a victim.

If perhaps I missed a real case of a player being bullied on here I would love for someone to PM that situation to me. I think if people are honest with themselves though, they will realize how they contributed to the very drama they claim to hate.

Best thing I've seen posted here yet.

Snorty, that's the difference between bvg mods and zynga's ninjas. The ninjas were forced to give an infraction whenever someone reported a thread... but bvgs mods are actually working in the office along with the other bvg employees, they will do their due diligence when it comes to someone's account being at stake, I think things will be handled much better now.

Gary, a person shouldn't feel afraid to voice their opinion here for fear of being reported by those who hold grudges. I have to agree that I'm afraid of spending money in-game now for fear of losing my account because of those who hold grudges. (that in no way is a threat, just stating how I feel...) Our last batch of moderators were aware of who the "baiters" were and they were watched... and that certain people were labeled "bullies" or a "gang" for voicing their opinions or having similar views on things. We are a very diverse group here and there are bound to be conflicts and those of us who are willing and eager to have a "block" feature so as not to be tempted by the baiting and/or see the negativity really should be given one. Our accounts are at stake here..... :)

I have been reported for a smiley face on the old forums and because of who i agreed with there. I know people who have been reported for things that should not have been reported and i have seen grudges carried over. I have seen people even in this thread trying to be all coy but pointing fingers. Of course there are concerns. I just want to be sure that there is a way to defend ourselves against grudge reporting and that we cant lose our game because of pettiness. Its all well and good to say just be nice, but when you have people who feel that you are bringing in gangs when more than one person disagrees with a post, its kind of hard to know if you will be reported for bullying or not.

Thats exactly why I asked about when names are not used but its clearly baiting or singling out. I would like to know that the people ive seen doing this will not be allowed to continue doing it because it causes more problems. I would also be concerned with a persons reasoning behind reporting considering grudges were infact carried over by some. What one person likes to perceive as bullying is just people they dont like disagreeing with them. Not meaning anyone specific, ive just seen that happen too many times with a lot of people over the last few years.

I think it is clear to most that come into this forum ...That there are a few that attack and bully...And anyone that travels the Internet forums ...Would know its not the normal thing for a forum ....This forum is not for a special few but for all to enjoy .......All people that attack and bully should be banned ....And let that be the end of it ? And then and only then. Will we all have a forum for all to enjoy

No one is holding anyone's accounts hostage here.
And Gary did not say that they were using input from other players to determine who is abiding by the BE KIND AN COURTEOUS RULE.
It looks to me that it is being moderator controlled, not based on report buttons.
I think lots are jumping to conclusions.
Maybe because of what happened with the report button abuse in our last forum.

Everything I said in my last comment was expressing that the actions that happened in our previous forums that put off so many people, did not get repeated here. Be kind and respectful in your responses to others and no problems will arise.

I do not believe BVG wants to remove anyone's account, they just want to remove verbally abusive language, and hostility.

Can someone give me an example of baiting? Because if someone is just sticking up for themselves after being disparaged, I don't think that's baiting. Maybe I'm misinterpreting what the term means altogether. And by asking this, I am not baiting, I am asking for clarification. I think we all have vastly different definitions of these terms we're using and therein lies the problem.

I can absolutely guarantee that we are not talking about the same people. :) Everyone had a right to start this forum fresh, with new names, buried hatchets and the like. I've seen just that too! It was heartwarming and refreshing!
The posters I'm talking about didn't hesitate to out who people were in a former forum life and are continuing the same modus operandi of bait and taunt and then cry bully and report and victimize themselves. I'm hoping they will be seen for what they contribute to the situation and that those who have strong opinions aren't penalized for expressing them respectfully even though they may not coincide with those who feel another way. :)

I can't see anyone being banned for just expressing their opinion.
Gary is clearly calling out people being insulting and hostile towards othersL "as of late we've noticed a worrying trend of people being hostile, insulting or aggressive towards other users, including belittling them, calling them out for no reason or just generally being mean to them."

" If you post with the intent of being mean about someone, either directly or indirectly, you may lose your forum access."

Personally I am a big girl and can take and or dish back with anyone/anything I have ever seen on this or old forum, and not take it too seriously, or have my life effected because of it. I certainly have never felt the need to control things enough to report stuff. The only exception to that was in a vile thread posting unmentionable language and pictures.

As people are quoting their if you can't say something nice don't say anything at all, I will add mine... Sticks and stones may break my bones... names/words here will never much affect me.
