The best way for them to have done this is when they took over and simply stated the Z code for coins was broken and they can't recreate totals so we all would have started with 0 or they would have just loaded in say 1m coins to everyone.

Now, they need to start pricing certain random items, in store, for 100k, 200k, 500k, 1m to get players to lose their coin totals. With prices that high, they better be quality items though too.

If they had done that they would have lost a lot of revenue from their long time cash buyers ...personally I would not have spent anymore on cash if all I had spent in the past was just zapped away.....they did away with the hacked coins and I support that fully but to take away from everyone well...that's just too Zynga in my books.

MAMBA (1068604) wrote:The circulation of so many coins is the problem. They have to come up with a creative way to eliminate coins. One way is raising coin item prices in stores. Average coin making players wont like it. Another potential way is through the AH. Instead of increasing commission just compete with other sellers, by selling high-end items for maybe 20% of what the going item is selling. Those coins would then come out of circulation and out of the game. Without affecting the trading aspect of the game much.

This is another way, raising the commission percentage in AH.

Good idea actually.

It effectively only really hurts the buyer as sellers tend to include the 10% in their buy now amount but it will still, through time, purge a bunch of coins out.

Correct.

Also the suggestion that BVG should have misled the players by taking their coins away under false pretenses sure doesn't seem like something that would be in keeping with how they roll at all!

Again, just like people who were missing items they purchased between jan-mar as well as decorating snafus when BVG took over, they could have blamed Z for not backing up the coin totals and sorry everyone is back to 0.

They could have spun that into "Sorry, but to issues beyond our control and Z not backing up their data correctly you will notice that everyone is down to 0 coins, so here's a random amount of coins on us, to get you back on your feet a little. We wish we could have done better but we feel this is a fair and equitable decision"

People would have bought it and been delighted their game was saved.

That horse however has long since left the barn at this point.

As far as riches in this game go......it takes time and patience...and a lot of both. I am always surprised at how newer players have this disdain for people who have more than they do and would like to see people lose what they have...maybe it isn't the game for that attitude. On the other hand...those same players have no problems accepting expensive gifts from those with more. Kinda funny really.

Yes, I think people who play Yo need to accept that, just like in real life, some things take time and effort and don't get handed to you on a silver platter.

I don't have every item, nor do I need to have every item to be happy.

But if I had an item you needed I might just send it to you on a silver platter anyhow :)

Yes you might...and I've done the same for people...but that's your option and mine, right? It's not something that should be expected.

This has absolutely nothing to do with how broken the games economy is.

No one should have their coins forcefully taken away. People have their coins, that's just how it is.

But raising the prices of various coin items in stores will help, people can spend coins at their own discretion, and it will work over time.

Now, I don't believe they should make coin items in stores over 500k, that would be too much lol.

But I think that the items currently in stores, that's a good pace, if they keep releasing coin items the way that they do now. The more coin items they release like so, the faster it will work..

Here's an example, 2 wands were released for coins yesterday. One was 10k, and the other was 20k I believe? Great! Coin handhelds! But what if someone bought them both? That's easily 30k spent right there. And all of the hoodies, if one was to buy one of every color, that's 10k. It may not seem like much, but it will snowball. Imagine a person spending 10k every small clothing release.

Good full releases (Home, clothes, decor) that people actually want to buy and fixing the lag and all the major bugs that infest the basic game mechanics. ;)

20k instore collectibles back in early 09 would equate to 2m instore collectibles today. Easy.

Problem is that would completely and totally suck for a new player.

I see I quoted before your addition....

10k per small release? Maybe in 2050 I won't have any coins anymore doing that, that is of course if I never go to the factory again nor sell anything.

Yes it does, because it's not broken. It's only perceived to be broken by people who think everyone should have easy access to everything.
