I think your perspective is just different to others, and that's okay. I think we had ample object lesson in January, though, that they are in indeed just pixels. If BVG had not purchased this game, all that all of us would have been left with at this point is memories and screenshots of a game we used to play, and some of us would have also come out with some pretty darn good friendships.The pixels themselves would have been gone. The same could happen in a few years IF this game eventually becomes non economically viable for BVG to continue with. Everything you have according to their TOS, will poof again. Not getting too attached is to a degree preservation for some people against some of the outright hostile and belligerent behavior that was displayed on the former forums when the closing was announced. Most people clearly hadn't read the TOS they were playing under, by a lot of the allegations and accusations that were made.

Conversely, some people use the pixels they have acquired in this game over time, and act like it makes them better than other players. They like to keep those precious pixels in the hands of a few simply because it somehow reinforces their own game superiority. That's not anything that translates to the real world at all, except to make people wonder what might be missing there, that they need such personal validation from an online game. *shrug*

to me.. they are just pixels.. altho these pixel can make me smile, they are just pixels... without these pixels i don't think I could be as funny sometimes .. without the pixels I couldn't have as much fun sometimes.. but they are just pixel all the same..

the game provides me an outlet . a place where I can come and spend some time releasing the days stress or joys..

the game has value.. the pixels are just that, pixels... the more pixels I have the more I seem to be able to do.. I am a funny guy at heart, so all these pixels are props to enhance my humorous side .. for that, they become valuable to me.. but, if I didn't have anyone to share, show or entertain them with, they would be.... just pixels

Regardless of our attachment to these items, the reality of it is, they are actually just pixels...in a game.
Because this is the game we all choose to play, some pixels may represent something more to us than just a pretty picture on a screen.
Some pixels I own bring me more joy than others, as they have meaning behind them depending on how I may have attained them.
Some pixels make me laugh cuz of the way they look...while some just don't affect me at all.
I will never feel too strong an emotional attachment to anything in this game because I do understand and accept that they could all disappear some day. We learned that when Z announced they were closing Yoville for good.

I think we all play this game for different reasons and that's the way it should be. No one should be forced to look at it the same way and no one should be made to feel inferior because of the way they play...ever. I hope you can enjoy the game for what it brings to you and don't listen to anyone that tries to bring you down.
