Dragon Fairy (105140331) wrote:I think a lot of players are forgetting that we know, and always have known, that the only items that are a 100% guaranteed no risk investment are the Collectibles. These always have been a limited one time only release. If you are buying purely to sell at a profit later, these are the items you should be investing in. Anything else we choose to spend our money on is a risk, same as in rl, you may buy/collect stuff and sell it for a profit, you may be unlucky and buy a bunch of stuff that is unpopular or loses value and lose money.
Zynga always stated that they could, at any time, re-release any other item or theme if they chose to. We all knew this and accepted it because it had always been stated. Zynga did re-release some themes and were careful about what they released, leaving 08/09 themes alone, etc but we all were aware that it could happen if they so chose.
Re-releases don't necessarily devalue items, there was an uproar when Zynga re-released some themes, I can't even remember now what some of them were, but take Elite as an example. That was a really nice and popular theme that everyone wanted and quite a few people had missed out on first time around. There were the usual complaints when it was brought out again - the market will be flooded, our items will lose value, etc but I go to a lot of sales and I rarely see Elite items, sometimes the windows but not much. The Elite items listed on AH also seem to command a good price so re-releasing hasn't turned it into cheap junk or devalued it a great deal. Basically if somethings worth buying someone will pay for it.
Also the YoCash items from each theme are likely to retain their value. As BVG pointed out, very few players actually buy YC so the mark up on these items is likely to remain high and YC items are always popular and easy to sell so the prices on these are probably not going to come down a huge amount.
People appear to just be panicking at the thought that they may lose money instead of considering that they could actually make more money by selling YC items from these themes to furniture starved decorators who would pay a good price to get their homes finished.

No need to. I would let people buy, dress up, decorate have fun. New comers would be welcomed with a huuuuuugeeeee store that could drive them crazy lol Ohh i want this and this and this omg i have to do this theme ... etc things would be sold all the time. Why would I block my own stores full of yocash items that can be sold unlimitedly. Design them once, sell them forever. There can be some collectibles once in a while, those can be super precious unique items among players, and that's it. Everybody would play in peace.
Really. This is my true feelings about this game. I am an old player, I have tons of expensive stuff. Really expensive stuff, but I only buy what I like, and mostly buy only 1 (especially clothing) When I decorate, I buy what I need, what I like. So I don't want to tear apart my existing rooms and sell something just for getting another thing that is price jacked. It is a very uncomfortable way of playing for me to hoard random stuff to random rooms just for reselling or for the fear of needing them later and not being able to find enough of them or the for the fear of items can be price jacked.
The current concept that Zynga created in this game, is actually something wasn't originally intended to. This is what creates the conflict.
I already told you why this everything in stores nothing discontinued approach wouldn't work for YOU as a non-YC buyer, though. I know it sounds ideal (I really do, I'm a decorator myself), but the only people who will lose out on it absolutely, are the non YC buyers only.
The reason why those items are *rare* and worth a lot are because they are discontinued.
If every item is in store and you have nothing to sell to afford to buy YC items, what are you going to sell to afford YC rates charged by YC buyers? You wont nearly earn enough the current methods to earn coins, I'm sure of that.
And if YC buyers have nothing discontinued they choose to sell their YC to afford to buy, why would they buy excess YC to sell to anyone else? There would be no need to.
That would encourage everyone to buy their own yc which is better in the long run. Yc dealers will still exist because they still need coins to afford the coin items in store. Store can drain a lot of coins before you know it once you start decorating & clothes shopping.
And I am not a non-yc buyer. Especially with todays rates, there is no way I am letting a dealer get bulk amounts of my coins. I don't create them by hocus-pocus When I really want something, I buy my own yc. That simple.

People. . .Let's move forward.
The re-release debate has had it's dead horse beaten.
Hasn't BVG addressed this?

lol dead horses
It is kind of refreshing to see someone make their point and not detect the vaguest sense of frothing at the mouth behind it.

If I can not trust what they say then there is NO WAY, they will ever get a dime of my money. I have been through that with Z and I won't put up with it again with BVG. I might only be one player, but I am a yocash buyer. I wonder how many other yocash buyers would walk away if they go back on what they have said many times they won't do.

This was a fair assumption under Zynga.
It is a new owner now, though. I dont think you can rely on that anymore.

I'm not, I'm merely pointing out some economic facts. I'm aware of BVG's statement with regard to re-releases. However , I feel that this may have been issued prematurely in response to a few people shouting loudly because they were scared of losing money - virtual money & pixels, without BVG fully understanding the widespread economic implications both for themselves and players.
A lot of players (quite possibly some of the people who are against this) are currently losing out on a substantial regular yo income simply because there are no new YC items for them to sell. The current themes are all shopped out. It's all you see at sales and I don't see many people buying.
It would be interesting for BVG to issue a poll to gather ALL players opinions on this issue, such as a small opinion poll when you log into the game for example, so that it includes everyone, not just forumers.

The quit-campaigns, the threads of devastation. "The specialness is gone" *has a sad* campaign. We've seen it before. It's a silly time.
