People can debate things without resorting to an attack on a person's character.
I'll bump this up in case anyone needs to read it

Because if someone is just sticking up for themselves after being disparaged, I don't think that's baiting. Maybe I'm misinterpreting what the term means altogether. And by asking this, I am not baiting, I am asking for clarification. I think we all have vastly different definitions of these terms we're using and therein lies the problem.
It's basically someone being coy and not coming right out and saying something but putting enough
bait" in their statement that they know it will illicit a response either from a certain individual or a mindset or group of people....
No different than putting a worm on a hook and seeing what bites. If'n you know what I mean?

Personal attack: Person 1. I think the new glasses are hideous.
Person 2. I think they are awesome
Person 1. You have no taste (personal attack)
Person 2. You always look like your mother dressed you. (personal attack).
etc.etc.etc.etc. Anytime you bring someones personality, looks, ethnicity, etc. into a disagreement its a personal attack. Hope this helps.

Baiting is a message posted to a public forum with the intent of provoking an angry response or argument over a topic. The "troll" (original poster provoking angry response) has no real interest in, and finds humour, or entertainment in reactions. When the person creating the topic actually has an interest in it, it is not considered baiting.

Maybe it is just me, but I do not see the 'personal attack' as banworthy or worth losing your acct for saying. I really hope that is not all it takes...... should there be other ways to say those things, yeah, but come on people! if THIS (in bold) really hurts your feelings...........
