I am no one's – literally no one but my momma's – favorite anything.

I just enter contests like crazy because it gives me something to do between releases.

I've been playing since 2008. I didn't participate on these forums until much later, when I came looking for answers about something going on in-game. and I stayed because I like talking about what is going on in the game and seeing the beautiful creations that are posted here.

I do not socialize AT ALL in-game with anyone except my momma and a few RL friends.

I am no one's favorite.

I don't go to the Viking parties – I don't go to any events because I have social anxiety and live events where you are expected to chat feel just like RL events where that is concerned.

So, when I see complaints that BVG just keeps choosing favorites and the same people over and over, I get a little annoyed, Because I know that I am unlikely to be the one you are talking about, but they have still chosen a few of my little dress-ups to be NPCs in-game. And I have to suspect it is the same for others who have NPCs in-game: they just enter contests a lot, and their avatars fit the narrative that BVG is going for in that theme.

So.. I guess if you want to see yourself as an NPC, enter all the avatar contests. And if you don't like NPCs, don't buy them or sell the ones you win ...

(And I'll admit that I'm a wee bit into my cups, which is probably why I'm going to actually post this rather than just backspacing and going to decorate a room... but sometimes these things get to me.)

I know that I am stating the obvious but since these are free items maybe don't participate in holiday related themes or themes that don't interest you. I know that when I don't care for a theme I go through my 150+ homes and find rooms that need makeovers and occupy myself with finding items in AH or elsewhere. That way I can save $ so that I can splurge on the themes that I love.

It is a forum contest, for forum members. These contests are not announced in game, only in the forum. Until there is an in game pop up or announcement (not sure why this hasn't been done already) the selection of entries will be limited to those that come here or are told about it. Expect to see more of the same, more NPCs of the E.V.M (Extreme Vocal Minority)

Having to come to the forum to post the entry makes some players not want to bother. They avoid the forum.

Players should be able to enter these contests in the game. They shouldn't have to come to the forum to enter a contest. Lots of players, when I mention the forum avatar contest, say they just won't post anything in the forum, they do not want to come to the forum.

So, unless BVG changes it from a forum contest to a contest that all players are aware of and can enter, expect more of the same. More NPCs of the EVM.

actually my point is totally different here ,problem aint that they are forum ppl or not forum ppl ,they will still obsessively pick same names ,if u view contest threads there so many different ppl joins (we dont see them posting in forums active) but they never get a chance
plus they announced some contests in game before ,still same names won then
and as a note am not saying anything to winning peps they are doing great job but bvg could try to pick different ppl instead picking same one repeatedly ,so someoneelse could get a chance to show up in game just once instead same ones showing 5-10 or whatever times

There has been in game notifications about the gem room forum contest…and I do think both the discord and the current contest on the forum for npc’s were announced as well.

For those that are avoiding the forum - dont. No one is going to engage in a negative manner over a contest post. You pop in a spout off that monkeys are kings and we are doomed to a long suffering death from drone blockades LOL then someone might have something to say. — if you havent noticed the forum isnt nearly as in your face as it was. As for it being a minority; that is true everywhere — those willing to be public have always and I fear will always be those who are blessed with free time and opinions/ and or objectives.

Unless you think the winners actually don't deserve the win I am confused by your complaint. It's a contest, and by saying BVG chooses the same ones over and over.. you are actually belittling the efforts players put into their submissions.

I have 4 NPC in the game, you make me feel like my entry was picked just because.. not because it's deserving of a win. Thanks for that!

If you haven't won yet, try putting more effort than you have into your submissions. Obviously if you haven't won it means you have not caught the eyes of the judges.

I have been at altons and suggested to players there to enter contests. Most refuse to come to the forum but a few have. One was used on the loading page. This player has very very few forum posts, but the outfit that player entered was fitting of the theme and better than the ones not picked. Was no favoritism.

perhaps the previous contest winners should stop entering contests, stop having the fun, so that players that don't win have a better chance of winning with whatever they decide to submit.

The NPC avatar contests are NOT announced in the game, that's what I was talking about, right? NOT Gem Rooms, correct?

Perhaps you should go to altons and suggest players post here? I've tried,they do not want to.

What I have noticed is.. less players are posting now compared to 1 year ago. I also notice that it's generally the same players posting. These players were labeled as the EVMs... not by me, but by BVG.

So, your own words.. "As for it being a minority; that is true everywhere" .. is perhaps the reason why... a forum NPC contest will have winners that post in the forum, and that the forum is the Extreme Vocal Minority.

I don't think the players were referring to Gem Rooms when complaining about the same players NPCs being put into the game.


Yes, Gem Room Contests are announced in game. BVG doesn't even hint that there is a NPC contest happening.

Odd that you would say that tho.. because it is kind of true. Some players do comment on other players posts to try change or alter someone else's opinion/tell them they are thinking incorrectly about something. You just did it with me. I didn't quote you, I have you blocked, but you still felt the need to tell me that I should look at things differently., regardless of truth.

I think that these avatar contests SHOULD be posted in game. I also think that the how to create an avatar should be posted on their FB page so more knew how to enter. Then again I think voting on the choices should be in game as well, offered to all players (consumers) to decide, with the results posted. There are several advantages for doing this. More diversity of choices, more player inclusion, & for BVG, more opportunity to find more potential designers. There are many designers that produce amazing NPC's & clothing IMO, but not all players have the same tastes, I've seen many players post that they just want "normal" looking npcs(their words, not mine) and even if they do like them, not everyone likes the redundancy of seeing a small handful of players seeming to be utilized. I personally like getting the NPCs for free & many of you designers will see yourselves throughout my homes, but, I admit it would be nice if the avi's in my community looked a little different in different homes. That being said, lol, to those of you that dislike the avi's, feel free to send them my way, I'll find good homes for them.... And since I haven't seen this statement yet, thank you to all the designers who submit your entries. I shutter to think what this game would be offering without your help. (And Flatch, I love your NPC's, they ARE worthy)

I'm going to respond as someone who has three avatars in the store (and one more under my original discord name), and a few more in slots and gem events, so bear with me.

I am no one's – literally no one but my momma's – favorite anything.

I just enter contests like crazy because it gives me something to do between releases.

I've been playing since 2008. I didn't participate on these forums until much later, when I came looking for answers about something going on in-game. and I stayed because I like talking about what is going on in the game and seeing the beautiful creations that are posted here.

I do not socialize AT ALL in-game with anyone except my momma and a few RL friends.

I am no one's favorite.

I don't go to the Viking parties – I don't go to any events because I have social anxiety and live events where you are expected to chat feel just like RL events where that is concerned.

So, when I see complaints that BVG just keeps choosing favorites and the same people over and over, I get a little annoyed, Because I know that I am unlikely to be the one you are talking about, but they have still chosen a few of my little dress-ups to be NPCs in-game. And I have to suspect it is the same for others who have NPCs in-game: they just enter contests a lot, and their avatars fit the narrative that BVG is going for in that theme.

So.. I guess if you want to see yourself as an NPC, enter all the avatar contests. And if you don't like NPCs, don't buy them or sell the ones you win ...

(And I'll admit that I'm a wee bit into my cups, which is probably why I'm going to actually post this rather than just backspacing and going to decorate a room... but sometimes these things get to me.)

Having to come to the forum to post the entry makes some players not want to bother. They avoid the forum.

Players should be able to enter these contests in the game. They shouldn't have to come to the forum to enter a contest. Lots of players, when I mention the forum avatar contest, say they just won't post anything in the forum, they do not want to come to the forum.

So, unless BVG changes it from a forum contest to a contest that all players are aware of and can enter, expect more of the same. More NPCs of the EVM.

There has been in game notifications about the gem room forum contest…and I do think both the discord and the current contest on the forum for npc’s were announced as well.

For those that are avoiding the forum - dont. No one is going to engage in a negative manner over a contest post. You pop in a spout off that monkeys are kings and we are doomed to a long suffering death from drone blockades LOL then someone might have something to say. — if you havent noticed the forum isnt nearly as in your face as it was. As for it being a minority; that is true everywhere — those willing to be public have always and I fear will always be those who are blessed with free time and opinions/ and or objectives.

What I have noticed is.. less players are posting now compared to 1 year ago. I also notice that it's generally the same players posting. These players were labeled as the EVMs... not by me, but by BVG.

So, your own words.. "As for it being a minority; that is true everywhere" .. is perhaps the reason why... a forum NPC contest will have winners that post in the forum, and that the forum is the Extreme Vocal Minority.

I don't think the players were referring to Gem Rooms when complaining about the same players NPCs being put into the game.


Yes, Gem Room Contests are announced in game. BVG doesn't even hint that there is a NPC contest happening.

Some players do comment on other players posts to try change or alter someone else's opinion/tell them they are thinking incorrectly about something. You just did it with me. Edited to remind this player and others that BVG has removed many rule breaker from the game; including those found breaking tos and used the forums.
sadly,as I pointed out - with fewer players, that doesnt mean you will find an increase in forum usage; even if the forum became a more thoughtful place. Which clearly, based on this we arent there yet.

not derailing anything. just pointing out that I blocked you and you should not be able to read my comments, and I cannot read yours unless I make an effort to do so.

On previous interactions with you... you one time suggested I participate in the deco contest, you encouraged me to give it a try. Meanwhile, I was the 1st player to enter said contest and actually was the first one that won that particular contest, but you were unaware, you didn't read the previous posts that would have shown you I did participate (you actually posted right below my entries). you wanted to just tell me that I should be doing something you thought I was not doing. like I said.. people seem to want to change peoples opinions/thoughts.. for whatever reason.

You now talked about room deco challenges, which had nothing to do with the NPCs being awarded. That is why I was confused and wondered why you felt the need to quote me and talk about something else.

I’m not too concerned if someone has fewer than 6 NPC's in the game—that’s fine by me. However, when someone is chosen 11 or more times and has significantly fewer posts in the forums (let's say under 100 for argument's sake, even though that's a slight exaggeration), it does raise some eyebrows. It feels a bit off, especially when their post count is much lower than the majority of active participants.

As for the contest pop-up, it’s located on the left side of the game, near the announcements bell. It’s visible on both Facebook and Dot.com platforms, though it seems like a few people—including you—might not have seen it yet.

I clicked on the little newspaper icon .. i see this.. it might be because I also click NO when it comes to sending notifications. Perhaps that is the reason. Perhaps I should change that.



I personally do not care how many times anyone has won, good for them! Forum post counts shouldn't be a factor, as I said previously, some do not like to post. I posted maybe 7 times in the yoville forum in all the years it was open. Lets assume the contest entries were submitted thru the game, no forum interactions needed... the players that win might have zero posts.

I really think it would be helpful if players could just submit the entries from within the game. When clicking the download image icon it can also have the option to enter it into whatever contest is currently running, and it gets automatically submitted. Or a separate icon for contests that runs in the same manner.

The simpler it is the more players will participate. Even today while at altons I was talking to a player about entering. Download image, upload to forums.. they thought they might run into problems not knowing how and thinking it was harder than it is... I always offer my help to anyone I talk to. What seems easy to me isn't so easy for others. Most times they do it once and then realize it wasn't as hard as they envisioned. I do that a lot myself.
I have encouraged players to participate, and when they get recognition they are as happy as a pig in mud. Whenever I have won it always gives me a huge smile. I think every player should get to enjoy that same smile.

But I also say to each player I talk with about entering the contests.... the more you try the better your odds.

And I get what you mean about making things easier to encourage greater participation, however, I think it's good for folks to stretch themselves a bit and learn new things....it's not hard, as we all know - just new and different if you've never done it before

There are some players on this forum who consistently go out of their way to help others get to grips with uploading images, no matter how many times they're asked

true.. it is always good to learn new things, stretch the mind.

being able to enter contests from within the game would mean people do not have to come to the forum to enter. It might get more people to participate. That might generate revenue.

I see this contest pop up.. perhaps they can make one for outfit contests too? couldn't hurt... a lot of players are not aware that there are contests here in the forum, maybe some are like me and turn off notifications.

And just a general point about avi competitions....

If you want to win, check out the winning entries and see how you can perfect your dressing-up skills to compete with them

You might have a very unique look that's great for you but the question you should ask yourself is "Would BVG be able to sell replicas of that?"

Think mainstream (unless the competition is quirky)....what most people would like, and hopefully buy

Don't wear loads of yobers and scenes....that will make you less likely to get chosen

And keep trying! Enter every competition here, on FB and Discord - even if you only sign-up to submit entries

Give the ones who keep winning a run for their money - that's what I do

Make it REALLY hard for them to choose

I don't have a dog in this fight only having returned recently to the forums. What I will say is that in my absence I had no idea these avi contests were going on, and when I came back and started entering them I haven't won, but i did have one chosen for the Halloween opening screen, and one chosen to be an NPC. So it's not the same old people necessarily by design. I got chosen for those two things and I'm still an (old) newbie.
