Many of us have been here since 2008 when YoVille launched. So yes, although we are adults now, but we have invested time and money into keeping this game going. It would feel really unfair for it to get shut down for FishWorld. If BVG can't afford to invest in 2 games, they need to sell YoWorld to someone else. It's a shame that Zynga only makes phone app games now.

I'm hoping this is a rumor or misinterpretation of the poll. I haven't seen it and I don't know where it is. If they are planning to end the game and think FishWorld is a replacement, they have lost their minds. They are two completely different games.

HOWEVER, the reality is it's not YOUR property. It's BVG's property and before that it was Zynga's property. We chose to spend for entertainment knowing it could all poof at any time. Our stuff isn't tangible goods we buy in RL stores. They are the property of the gaming company. That has been the case since day 1.

I certainly hope this isn't seriously being considered. If it is, they should sell us NOW. There's a ton of speculation and rumors being put out there and unless there's evidence that that was what the poll was really asking and that it was from a legit Viking, I'm not going to put any stock in it.

The alienation all of this brings to the game is ground shaking.

My loyalty is to Yoworld and this community.....and I implore you to reconsider all this alienation and havoc you throw at us, especially this last year.
You have been busy trying hard to change how we play this game, but so many of us love it as the decorating game it is, and that is what keeps us here. We do not want to replace the creativity outlet we get here decorating, with mindless gambling activities.

Your game, your control.
I am merely a spectator and participant and ardent supporter..
Your move you made this week to wipe out our meaningful art, photos of our family and pets, and tributes to loved ones who have passed on was not thought out very well IMO. Did you even anticipate this reaction? Do our experiences and memories here mean so little to you today.

Devastated is the word of the day, the week, and it's taint will fill the air for some time to come....the air is thick with Devastation. People pushed over the edge. Hopes and dreams dashed.
Congratulations if this was your intent and goal, you reached it.

I hope this dark cloud can be dispersed, and that there is a happy ending to this story-although for the life of me, I cannot figure out how you will be able to accomplish that.

And no, if Yo crashes and burns, I already also do play Fishworld some now, I started playing to support your company while you were considering purchasing Yoville......but you need to know, If I cannot play Yo, Fishworld will get cut out of my life too.
That game never took off for me, for it is just a skeleton, a shadow of this great game Yoworld. So much is missing from Fishworld, that lives strongly in the heart and soul of this tightly knit community. Yoworld is the game I love.
And I bet this is the way the majority of the community feels too.......if your plan is to replace Yoworld with Fishworld, I am sorry to disappoint you....this will happen when pigs fly

If this ever happens
I Won't be playing Fishworld.

I saw a post on in a fb yw group that someone else (not Dande) had taken a ss from discord & posted the survey from Viking Aurelia (it was a female Viking -- I may have gotten the name wrong -- EDIT: fixed the name).

It's not just the disappointment about losing our boards, it's being kept in the dark about the reason why. Everyone knows that the old "violated terms of service" means you can change the rules whenever you want and not tell us what we did. Facebook has proven that over and over with its censorship rules. All this wild speculation is causing harm to the fragile community and if this game goes, there is not enough fish in FishWorld that can save BVG. I had a wonderful fish tank game years ago but I'm so over the collecting, feeding and cleaning. It gets old really fast so you can take your slimy tanks and throw them in the sea.

I stand with Queen Gothra, iWhimsey, JONES and everyone who had a gallery wiped out!

My suggestion is, if you're going to keep the boards and try to make them safer, maybe you can provide default options for the boards like an option for a sales template where players can directly insert items they want to buy or sell, or an option to just draw on it. No more 3rd party images.

Viking Andrew wrote:I’d like to take a moment to clarify a few things on behalf of the team:

Whenever we look at taking action in game, our first focus is to make a change that impacts as small of a player group as possible. It doesn’t matter if it’s a bug, or an art issue, or a problem with a larger feature like the Buddy List - we know any change that’s made to YoWorld on a large scale has a chance to truly, genuinely harm your experience. I hope, at the very least, this can convey that the seriousness of this issue meant we could not stand by idly after we discovered the risk to our community at large.

We cannot fully discuss the details behind the trouble with our Paint Boards, but we can say that the main issue involved the use of uploaded images, violating ToS, and as such, we are required to remove this feature. In disabling them there have been a lot of valid points brought up within the community that should be addressed. Mostly around the way we’ve gone about our current, temporary solution.

Why disable all Paint Boards? The issue we needed to address in Paint Boards required us to disable the feature as the only means of protecting the community. This is due to the way the Paint Boards item works. As an older item, with older code, the solutions we have access to are much more limited.

Can’t we just fix it? Any change we would make to this feature would require a total overhaul of the Paint Board item.

Why didn’t you let me save my work? This is, currently, not how Paint Boards work. While the images are saved locally, any change or update to the Paint Board feature means that any work on the item as it currently exists is lost.

Will I get my images back? We understand how important this feature is to our players and we are actively exploring ways to address this concern.

Our team understands that these items don’t just represent creative fun - they’re an investment you’ve made. We aren’t ready to discuss compensation with the community yet, but we’re absolutely going to find a way to make this right.

The very nature of the item means that the second something was to go wrong, or any fix needed to be made, your work was at risk. Naturally, this wasn’t a problem when the item was working as intended. When things are fine, there’s nothing to worry about.

With this particular discovery of a ToS violating complication in Paint Boards action needed to be swiftly taken, which meant that the underlying issue within Paint Boards arrived much sooner than we expected.

Our team is extremely aware of the way Paint Boards are used. We know these items are integral to many social events, and have become a key component in your decorating. The art that you’re showing off here is a true testament to that. We also know that these items are key parts of events, trading, conversations between players, and are a staple to allowing you to decorate in creative ways our team can only begin to catch up on. So where does that leave us?

Our team is working on a solution for this particular issue. This situation involving Paint Boards is complicated, but we have a lot of faith in our team’s ability to resolve this issue.

We know you probably have questions, and we’ll be opening up a thread here for you to focus them all in one place.

Literally nothing you say can make this better. It's all just bad excuses. Why is a total over haul of the system too much for y'all to do? Yes you could have let people screen shot and save their images before destroying them. There is no way you guys could have thought this would go over well when you say your team knows "extremely well" how they are used, at least not if you live in reality. Now y'all are trying to backpedal and say it's a temporary solution.
You may claim to have faith in your teams ability to resolve the issue, but how can you expect any of us to have the same faith when it has been so very eroded over the last few years?

Several points jumped out at me:

1. "We aren’t ready to discuss compensation with the community yet, but we’re absolutely going to find a way to make this right." I'll be interested in what they consider 'compensation,' but with their track record I'm leaning toward them releasing a 'free'/'super special' handheld (so big that it covers up the avatar) that says "Thank You BVG. We love you" or "BVG loves me." And they'll claim that is was a 'player-requested item,' to show that they 'listen to us.' :eh:

2. "With this particular discovery of a ToS violating complication in Paint Boards action needed to be swiftly taken, which meant that the underlying issue within Paint Boards arrived much sooner than we expected." So they've known about the underlying issue/violation, previously, and just were forced to do something 'much sooner than expected' - yet they didn't warn us/give us any hint about any upcoming problem. And no mention that 'any change or update to the Paint Board feature means that any work on the item as it currently exists is lost.' That tidbit could have been 'helpful.' They seem to have mis-anticipated (yes, I made up that word) quite a bit. :shh:

3. "Our team is working on a solution for this particular issue." Their team seems to be working on a number of issues (glitches, long-standing problems) that only very rarely get 'fixed'/solved. (Yeah, the game doesn't work - but, hey, we have a Discord server...so...?) :?:

4. "This situation involving Paint Boards is complicated, but we have a lot of faith in our team’s ability to resolve this issue." Yeah, I agree that it is 'nice' that they have faith in themselves...but why should players have (blind) 'faith' after this latest development and the vague bits of 'information' being released bit by bit. Not to mention that players have been noticing that we get less and less 'new' content released (and re-colorized items aren't really 'new') for each theme, as prices seem to go up and most items beyond the most basic decor items (beyond beds, couches, chairs) are held hostage in gambling endeavors. It is hard to have 'faith' instead of wondering what is coming next.

I have 100's and had many with art I had drawn on them freehand. I paid YC for several of my boards.
How can people post their WTB and FS items? This really stinks. I didn't have as many that made up part of a home but, I did have some, probably more than I realized. I have over 350 homes so I guess I will discover how bad it effects me as I go along, so sad that this happens because of idiots who abuse the TOS
I hope you (BVG) figure out a fair way to deal with this. I probably lost at least 200 images and have 100's of useless boards which cost me YC and coins.
For the last few years I have had a memorial up for my 19 years old brother who was killed and now it is gone. This just makes me sick. I'm sure I am not alone but, it doesn't make it any easier.

Been thinking about this all day. Most of us are adults and would like to stop being treated like children who really deserve to know something of what is going on. We are the people who write the paychecks and they say the customer is always right. All this guessing is just making things worse and perhaps blown up above what really happened. I hope the person who says Yo is going nowhere is right because it is the best game in the world!!!!!

This is the most upsetting thing I have ever experienced in this game since starting here in 2009. I had a collection of my personal HANDDRAWN art work .I had my artwork on display in my "museum". You have just removed hundreds of hours worth of hand drawn, with a mouse creative artwork...I also purchased hand drawn from others to display in my museum. You have just erased on a whim, something that I took great pride in. If people found a way to upload pictures that you found offensive then they should have been dealt with on an individual basis. With all of the ways things can be abused in here, destroying hand drawn artwork is underhanded and pathetic . YOU RUINED A GOOD THING BVG.

If it involved law enforcement or someone suing bvg in court, there is good reason to think they were ordered to remove the entire medium itself which was either a cybersecurity risk or open to other serious abuse (and the old code not able to be remedied comes into this as well).

For now it is just speculation what it is which they may also be legally obliged to not reveal details of.

? cybercrime involving data breach via hacking using code exploit ( i saw someone post here about that possibility and was going to post a NYT link that mentioned games being the latest target of cyber crime but then realized it would be blocked for many here on this PB issue, I have a github extension that goes past paywalls on many news sites, I can still post it if someone is interested)...this could also involve posting malicious links for viruses/malware/spyware/trojans etc that might otherwise look innocent in the typed url but become redirects or phishing.
? doxxing has been mentioned which can be a serious federal crime depending and can earn prison time.
? there is always the awful possibility of revenge porn or child porn or someone posting links to such or clear cases of grooming children/teens via the PBs

We are talking serious stuff and either because of the code itself or bvg's inability to effectively monitor so many PBs in so many accounts, it was all ordered to be removed (if we are in such serious legal land).

Edit: I forgot cyber bullying which is not a federal crime yet; the class of the crime/penalty varies by state
https://houstonlawreview.org/article/73672-death-by-words-do-united-states-statutes-hold-cyberbullies-liable-for-their-victims-suicide. it can also result in serious $$ settlement if it results in a suicide https://www.cnn.com/2023/07/31/us/new-jersey-school-bullying-suicide-settlement/index.html...also https://www.checkstep.com/how-video-game-bullying-is-threatening-the-future-of-the-industry/ (mentions can involve doxxing).
