The reason why people hate rereleases is due to the impact it causes in the current value of that item... there are ways to push more items to the game and profit from it, without decreasing the current value of the item in a negative way.

They could exercise those ways and keep everyone happy.

Cutting up the old stuff wouldn't bug me in the least. I'd still have the full costume as a collectible. I realize the old costumes will lose value as a 'status item', but I honestly could care less about status. Having the full old costume would still be cool in some regard.

Besides, devaluation is going to happen anyway as coins continue to evaporate faster than they are created.

every year they put out new santa costumes and elves costumes made slightly different with the hats nobody complains

The issue about decreasing the value in 'status items' is the connotation it has in the player base--is important to its players to feel more than the others, that has been the culture from the begining--and we want to keep players happy as long as its viable to do, regardless of the stupidity in which they believe.

The 'devaluation' due to less circulant is not an issue. That would be bringing the yoeconomy to a new equilibrium of price not value. In other words, is not really a devaluation because those items would hold its relative status compared to the rest.
