I don't see a point to make it private. If you are that concerned with people reading what you post, then don't post. This is the internet, nothing is ever private.

No, its fine how it is currently. Its a public game forum for updates, don't post here if your having issues Adeline. IMO!

Why on earth would y'all want them to be working on forums instead of the game. It's a game thats open to the public and the forum should be as well. We want MORE players, not less. Hiding won't get us more.
If your worried someone will see your gold status just change it, as has been suggested.

Disagree. It should stay public.

It's an interesting idea with pros and cons, but realistically it would probably limit participation. Plus, all of the helpful stuff posted here wouldn't be indexed and then players wouldn't be able to find it on google. I know I found many helpful forum posts when looking into the game originally that way.

She is taking it personal, I have nothing to hide, those who want to see my posts can, and those who don't can ignore me. Its not reasonable to do this, no need to hide or think this is your town to post what you want because its a "Game" forum that should be public.

"...they do not need to see if I am - purely for example sake - getting along with Samberg." Every thing before and after this comment is moot. You need to work that out on your own and not request a forum modification based on your own inability to move on. Use the newly added block feature if it makes things easier.

I would have to vote no. This is a game forum. There is nothing being posted here that's top secret and so serious that the entire forum needs to be hidden from public view. The whole thing sounds paranoid. There may also be possible new players that come here to read or check things out, so I'd say keep it open and friendly.

I don't have an issue with the forum being public. I have been on other gaming forums and they all are, so I guess I am used to it.

I would like to add a benefit of a public forum. I was gone from Yo for several years, heard of it closing, and found the old forum. I began to get interested in what was happening and when I read BVG was buying it I came back. This would not of happened had I not been able to see it.

That may happen for others as well! If they read the forum we could get some more old players to come back or some new ones. Just a thought. :)

I don't care that people who aren't logged in, can read the forums. As it is, you have to be at a certain level to participate at all. Why remove the ability to those that CAN'T post...to read what's going on??

People shouldn't post what they don't want people to read. Period.
I "ghost" read here a lot. I'm not really understanding why that should go away.

Adding: I'm soooo glad they moved us from FB to this forum! FB, was personal. Here, we can be who we want to be and people don't have to know.

sounds like this privatizing request may be a personal thing... I think the 'blocking' feature will hide you from whoever.. and i think (not sure) but when you block someone, they cannot read your posts.. don't know for sure.. has someone blocked me?? can they read my posts??? lol

Basically what happens when you block someone (I've got a few blocked on this thread) is when they post in a thread it says 'This post was made by *name* (Number) who is currently on your ignore list. Display this post.' You have the option to display the post and read it. BUT if someone who you don't have blocked quotes the person you do have blocked, you can see what they said in the quotes.

And I disagree with this. Sometimes I might like to come by and read but I don't want people to see when I'm online. You know, cause I may be avoiding people who know I frequent here and they may say 'Ohhh, I know you're there, I see you in the forums!', when I don't feel like talking to people. I sometimes like the anonymity of coming here and reading.

Also, I feel they could be working on more important things such as getting the stores cleared out. No need to have nearly 50 themes in the furniture store that aren't really there.

Bad idea. What if I am at work and cannot access FB as the company has a firewall up to block the site? Then I will have to spend the entire day working instead of reading YoWorld forums. No thank you.

for one, the reason behind some not wanting the badge was for privacy issues.... it's nobodies business what anyone pays to play this game but 'you' and BVG. You were all for being recognized for having the gold badge last night and even proud to display it (I don't really need to quote your post do i? because I will for purpose of posting facts) but now you want BVG to make the forum private so people cant see it?!!!

secondly, seems like you are making this a personal reason since you specifically mentioned Samburg and not wanting his friends to see what you and him might be discussing here on the forums. So lets see your reasoning here: making this forum private and that his friends would have to log in to view your conversation, would what, make them participate?! They could still sit back and watch and not have to say one word. the same thing they could be doing right now, while this forum in NOT private. making this forum private and them having to sign in is NOT going to make people participate more.

I do not feel that there is any reason to make this forum private. you cannot click on avatars like the old forums and be taken to your yoville profile (you didn't need to be signed in to do that) and stalk your inventory or ingame message box. There is really no reason for it to be private.

If we can just go as invisible when we want that is good enough for me. I agree that a forum is meant to be a public place. I do notice that it always keeps me as logged in even if I'm not at my computer. It should have a timeout/inactivity period when it logs you out if you haven't posted, changed pages, etc... in a certain amount of time.

Speaking as an Admin of a few game forums...we have sections hidden for specific reasons...one of our gaming sites houses more than one game because it is geared to our guild...Not all members of our guild play all the games we cover or some of the sections are older games we do not play anymore but still discuss...the members of the guild that have never played these games do not see any of these sections because they can not offer anything constructive to the conversations...these are hidden by me because they do not need to be in there...We choose the sections we want outsiders to see as well...if a non member is not signed in they can not see certain sections and in order to do so they have to register for membership but we have many sections opened to non members so that they can glean what they need to before registering... make sense?

In my opinion, there is no need to make this forum private as many have said, sometimes a person wants to read to find out if this game is for them or not...which is a valid point in and of itself...Most gaming sites do not make themselves private or they are basically cutting off their noses to spite their faces :P

Also all the other game sites that I Admin/Mod for are not private. There is no real need to make them that way because a lot of people just want to read and find info about the game
