It is nothing but guesses, and smoke and mirror, and making excuses for something that happened that they are as clueless about as the rest of us.
I want to hear an official statement on what happened to cause a company to punish the good player along with the offenders.
Only BVG's explanation is real
Everyone else is just spewing fantasy and speculation.
Please respect us enough BVG to give us a reason that you did this. This is so hard to forgive, and some of us desperately want to forgive.............but not sure you deserve forgiveness.
This could just as easily been someone entering some bad code that blew up the paint board by mistake.
Please own what happened, and tell us.
I am watching so many talented people who used to love this game walk away over this.
Give me a reason to defend you, and be in your corner.
I stand here wondering and suspicious until I hear an officical statement. Thank you.

They've already said that they have detailed all that they will detail about it. So I guess you'll be waiting forever?
You know what I think it is. You know why I think it is that. And you know why they can't talk about it if it is that. You also know why I've ruled out every other possible cause as a less likely fit for what happened. But you are entitled to want a direct statement from BVG - but you'll be wanting that forever.
It also still bothers me what happened to our game. Accordingly I now call them "pain" boards. But what is done is done and there's no going back. I'll never pretend it didn't happen, but I do understand the threat they mitigated to Yo by doing it. They made the right decision to protect the innocents. I'm fine with that.

They are saved in the last back up BVG made of the game before they disabled paint boards.
What they don't know is that by saving game back ups, they are still at risk from the very thing they are trying to dodge. Digital images of any type that fall in that category hold the same risk. It doesn't matter if it's the live instance or the back ups. Although courts have found that having back up copies isn't as serious as having them in the live instance. The access to back ups is much more limited and usually tightly controlled to only internal admins.

How do you know they are saved?

Great question. It is a true assumption on my part. If they aren't making regular back ups to Yo, then God have mercy on us all. Because they way they struggle to technically support the game, one day they are going to need them. LOL

You gave me hope that they can push a button and give our boards back! I would rather have that the any compensation they could come up with.

And if that was the case I can understand why BVG acted so fast. We could lose the game totally. They probably had to wipe it fast so they had no time to sort out the good boards from the bad. If this was the case, hopefully once this is sorted out, the good boards can come back.

They had NO choice.

Can we know what the type of "offensive" content it was? Why would it suddenly become widespread? And was it actually offensive as in p-graphic garbage, or was it a statement someone made that was in opposition to an employee's personal political view? Hmmm. That would be interesting to know.

Technically they could restore the last image of Yo prior to "Disable Day". They'd then have to apply every log to every account subsequent to that date. It's doable, but each day is another layer they'd have work through.
I wish they'd have reverted it the day after, permanently locked up all the boards, IDed the ones that needed removal, removed them, banned the players with them, and then let the game move on with no more boards being added and then posting a general warning about paint board content and what happened.
But that milk is spilled all over the barn now and we ain't ever getting it back.![]()
