Nope.. I reread it.. there is no way to make that make sense..

Earn 8k yocoins as a community from opening chests.. ?

If the combined total of everyone opening chests is 8,000 coins, there will be a reward, per Viking Andrew:

"Earn 8,000 YoCoins as a community by gifting and opening coin chests.
Any coin chests opened during this time will count toward the community goal.

Once the goal has been met everyone will receive an in-game reward."

The 8,000 coin amount is the combined total. We are not expected to each open chests worth 8,000 coins.

I'm going to guess that as long as you are opening chests during this event, you'll get the prize, especially since BVG determines how frequently coins are dispersed in them. I'm also sure the quota has been met because I had a glut of keys & chests stored & I personally collected over 5K in coins.

No, as a community $8,000 in coins were needed, not individually. I am sure the goal has bee hit.

I've done friend visits and opened all the chests I could. But NONE of them had any coins in them! What's up with that?!

This thread is proof that many users are NOT paying attention to not only what the original post (and clarification post made afterwards) by the OP, but that they are also not paying attention to the many users (including myself) who have stepped in and tried to explain it too. This is why we can't have nice things... :dizzy:

You weren't paying attention. The COMMUNITY (as in ALL the yoworld users) only needed to produce 8 thousand coins as a GROUP, NOT individually. I got ELEVEN THOUSAND COINS myself and others opened the chests too. The goal had already been met and now people are still opening them because they're not reading the replies and seeing that we met the goal a LONG time ago.

The timer is still going on. It's too easy to reach 8000 coins. Just one person with a lot of hoarding can do it. I'm not complaining though :haha: .

It’s a long holiday, the parents are out of town for the weekend, and you don’t have any homework to worry about! Time to call up some friends, hang out, exchange some gossip, and relax. Absolutely nothing will go wrong and nothing scary is happening in the local neighborhood!

Community Challenge Rules:

Earn 8,000 YoCoins as a community by gifting and opening coin chests.
Any coin chests opened during this time will count toward the community goal.

Once the goal has been met everyone will receive an in-game reward.

We also heard there’s some trouble shambling closer…It may be a bad time to be a young, irresponsible teenager in a quiet, unassuming neighborhood. Tune in on Friday when our first Scream Street Avatar Challenge is made available to all!

I wonder if a picture might explain Mystery Chests vs Coin Chests

Yeah, well I didn't get a prize either. So maybe you didn't necessarily understand the challenge any better than I did.

If you look a few posts above this, Viking Mike posted that the challenge is still ongoing and the reward will be early next week.

He also posted the next challenge in that post, so you may want to take a look.
