Any tips would be appreciated.

Do you have master list of what you have?
Is it better to categorize them per theme or per item?
Or you only decorate directly whatever stuff in store?

There are times Idk what I have and just checking now.

I remember my items. Some I put in rooms like of I hoard those or to load faster but now I usually leave them in inventory. Writing down your items is not a bad idea though, in case that you have too much. I never decorate really though so my items are just there

I bought lots of those FS broadway properties. I hate the FS but its good for storage. I label it what ever I have stored in there. IE Spanish and Russian stuff.

Thanks for the tips. Great ideas in doing so. Would it be laggy if we have lots of avenues or any side/bad effect?
Im thinking to get the 1c avenues then maybe per theme or per bed/sofa/car category.
LoL I might take a month and good enough time for cleaning/organizing my inventory before the 3D artist can finish his stuff.

I printed out my list , each house is named with the month/year I bought it
so my beach house is called Winter on the Beach J 10 , the J is for June/July
then on my printed out list it says what theme its decorated in , this particular one is Aussie and Beach
some have FS in the name Full Screen and I have one called Free is Good 11 I stick freebies in that one.
I tend to decorate more than hoard doesn't mean I don't have more than one of each item I do have multiples but they make up rooms they aren't just dumped

I've just recently started trying to organize some of my things. I'm sure there are more effective methods than what I'm doing, but I am using full screen avenues and organizing by item type.

For example, in the picture below, I've named the avenue "Chairs Storage 1" and I just put in a bunch of different chairs regardless of theme. I had too many to go in just the one avenue so the next avenue I named Chairs Storage 2 and so forth. That's how I've been doing mine, although I'm a long way from being done.

I have my stuff stored by theme in extra houses. I put each theme in a room. Some take up more than one room. The holiday items are in houses sorted by each holiday, such as Christmas, Halloween, 4th of July, St Patrick's Day, Easter and so on. I put an * before the name of each home so I know it's storage only.

I use the coin houses for storage. The Trailers, Ranch House and Cape Cod are good ones. I also bought a couple extra of the homes you could get for coins with cosigners.

In each of the storage homes I set my floor as the White Taku and the walls a white color. Makes it much easier to see items that way.

Since BVG took over, and we don't have YoVille.com to see the rooms anymore, I took a screenshot of each room of each house. I made a folder for each home and labeled each screen shot so I would be able to find them easier.

Now when I want to find where something is and can't quite remember, I just go to my folder on my desktop and look that way. I usually have a pretty good idea where the theme is stored.

Most houses have a combination of several themes separated by rooms. I label most *Storage 1, *Storage 2 and so on.

My secret bookcase is where I store some of my "good stuff". ;)

I also have found if you don't want people snooping around in your storage, you can block the doors with a brick wall or something.

Try to use my items in designs as much as possible

but then I break it down by item

and then what doesnt fit in items I sort the odd bits by theme

I like to mix and match themes - so it helps to store things where I can compare colors and things like that

Ive met some forumers who have told me great stories on how their storage rooms are numbered.. or in alphabetical order...
Mine...

Mine are spawned from the darkest nightmares of hell... i am afraid to even go into some of them feeling like i will never get out or die when a pile of overplaced cow hides falls in top of me... if there was a program called yohoarders ill be there for sure.

As of now, I'm getting crazy with teleport doors and use FS home as storage. I'm also planning to stock teleport doors for homes. It's really difficult to find a particular home as they are not even arranged alphabetically.

I use the 1coin co-sign Halloween houses.
I just put stuff down where there's a space, though if a I have multiple of the same item I will try put them near each other...

I have a "Storage Central " of transporters to take me to the various storage houses.

Image

Some are by themes and some are by categories (the ones I use a lot like food, chairs, plants and flowers).

Example Food and Drinks, Room 1.
Image

The only thing about the transporters, is that using them times out quickly.
I wish we had a search able function when finding our homes. It can be a pain scrolling through them. And when a new house is added, everything is rearranged.
