I have been back on Yo for two weeks now and most of the threads I have seen so far complain about the prices and how much money BVG is asking for these pixels.
Let me tell you my view on the subject and then maybe you can tell me yours.
For me, the items I buy in the game and spend real money on are no just pixels they are much more than that. Why do you buy yourself nice items in real life (aside from usability and the different excuses you try to convince yourself with), when I go to buy something in rl I buy it because it makes me happy or contributes to something that will make me happy. So if I buy an item in Yoworld, I buy it for the same reason. It makes me happy and even if I can't touch the items I can feel them, feel the art, appreciate the work put into it, and most of all show it off in front of other players. This past week I have spent more money on Yo than I did buying stuff in RL, why? because Yoworld is part of my life now. It's what I do in my free time, and where I go to enjoy my alone time. I feel that players should not think of it as buying worthless pixels, because it's not. Think of it this way; when you go to buy a pair of jeans your gonna wear it around 8 hours a day and if you wear it everyday it's probably gonna last you around a year and that is if you get a quality pair for let's say $80, but let's say you buy a pair of jeans in Yoworld and it cost you around let's say 25 yocash (expensive pair aren't they) now Idk about other players but I play on average around 1:30-2 hours a day and even if I wear these pair of jeans in yo everyday for the next year they are still gonna be worth 25 yc and I would get for these 2 hours the same satisfaction (if not more) that I get when wearing a nice pair of jeans in real life.

I know a lot of you might disagree with me, but this is just my opinion on the subject. This is my understanding of why I enjoy the game and why I tend to spend money on it.

i saw somewhere it takes alot to keep the game going and something about fb getting a share. i never complain . most of the stuff is a fair price .

Its all about perspective in my opinion. I'm pleased though, that you've returned and found enjoyment in our beloved game. That's all that matters

I think I used to say that they're just pixels when I was new and when i was scammed bc then it didn't hurt as bad

The thing is, I've worked hard for them and I also spend money, so yeah, I do agree with you xD It's a great game and I enjoy these pixels very much

And yeah real money. MINE pixels.

I love my hard earned pixels.... but I take your point... I love the game and my friends too.
If the game had gone I would have had no pixels.. but I KNOW I would still have had friends I have made through the game.

I pretty much ignore what people say when they say that because If it makes them feel better about themselves putting down the items that mean more to some of us then them. Then so be it. Sometimes they say it to try and set others off The thing is I value everything about the game and that's my friends and my pixels. If anyone else has issues about it that's their problem. Another thing that strikes me funny is they call them worthless pixels or whatnot until it comes to the pixels that they own or some that say that don't spend money on the game.

I get what you're saying OP... but pixels aren't tangible items. Apples and oranges. And according to the TOS we don't technically "own" them either. They're the property of BVG. We rent them for our entertainment purposes. That's why people say "it's just pixels".... And it helps to alleviate any "attachment issues" should they ever poof on us.

I think people say that because the pixels mean different things to different people. Some see it as a game of "He/She who dies with the most pixels win" and others see it as a place to have fun and hang out with friends and decorate.

I think the negative aspect of "it's just pixels" comes into play when other players are perceived as being greedy. There are players who are concerned with having the "right kind of pixel," for some it gives them a perceived status in the game and I think that is what offends some players. I think it is all about perspective. I have many pixels that mean a lot to me. It isn't the pixel itself though, it is what the pixel represents. If it was given to me by a special friend, it holds a lot of meaning. If it is pixels I have enjoyed while hanging out with friends, it has a special meaning. If it is pixels I have collected as part of a Yo goal, they have a different meaning too. Since I really own none of these items, if they were to poof I would be sad to no longer be able to enjoy them, but I would still have the memories.

Since none of us play the game in the same way, we will never see the pixels the same. Nothing wrong with that. So just play the game how you enjoy and don't worry about what anyone else thinks. All that matters is that you have fun while you play.
