Welcome to the 2017-2018 school year!

There has been some new changes for the Special Education classroom! This year, instead of being
in one classroom all day. I have asked another teacher to take in your students as well to help me with the new
year! There will be changes for Special Education in North Valley Yohigh school that will start this year and will
change again next year! I am excited for changes and hopefully we will all adapt to these changes.

After this year, there will not be Career Rotation at the Career Center for my caseload to go and take
courses there to explore and to choose which career after high school that they will be successful in. Next year,
I will be offering a Career Center credit at the high school to cover all of what there suppose to be taking and adding
more skills that business will hire someday if there interested.

I would like for our class the freshman and the sophomores to go on some field trips to have a visual look of how the real world works. I want them to learn and grow on the field trips. In the four years I have been in the
special education industry, I never been on a school field trip with my students. This year, I think we are ready to
make changes. I want them to act polite and mature about these field trips. That way if they see something that
they want to do, we will let them have an opportunity to go see the world and still learn together as a huge class.

This year, I have asked the newest teacher of North Valley Yohigh school. Her name is Sally Asdoa and
I think she would be the one to help out special education. She teaches Regular Education World Geography for
9th grade and World History for 10th grade! She said yes to working with me with your child. This is her first year
here and I am happy that things are changing.

Self contained use to be where we had these old textbooks and we would have occupational
classes to help train our youth business skills, money management, manners, how to open a bank account,
how to write a professional resume, and how to become a better person in life. Now those days were over
and last year, we had to change the occupational curriculum to Access regular education material with a little
bit of occupational work. This year, we got new freshmans and our remaining sophomores and we decided to
split them up in the AM and PM classes instead of being in one particular classroom, we had to expand to two
classrooms where freshmans and the sophomores had their own classes whether in the AM or Pm with zero
distractions and two in one time for each particular student that we have in self contained.

I never thought my career as a Special Education teacher has changed into many way. I love coming
here to help your child improve with social skills and to get the most out of these classes before they leave
school whether they want to get their GED, college, go straight to work, or go into business management. As
a teacher, I've been doing this for four years now and I'm still committed to my job. Thank you parents for
trusting us with your kids because you know this is how education matters for them. These classes will
help determine their success and whatever path they choose, we're there to support them. This is a place
where teenagers can be changed into model citizens. Before doing this, I hated being a doctor because not
many doctors were educated on the game and they had no clue to what it was for what they were doing.
My true calling was to help the youth and the young to go farther in life. Without this job, lives wouldn't be change
and things would not be different today. I am so thankful to come here to instruct your child on the way of life. To learn together, to grow together, to have fun together and to experience life together. I look forward to another great school year!

Rules for the Special Education Classroom!

These are rules that me and Ms. Asdoa have made up for our classes this year for our special needs students to follow! Some of these are in their agenda that they are issued on the first day of school which is in August. Students should keep up with this agenda.

The rules will be explained on each point to make sure we are all on the right spot!

1. No cell phones out
- Unless permission is given from Mr. Seamz and Ms. Asdoa to have your phones out in class.
- If its a project, calculator, or an emergency to handle.
- Students SHOULD NOT use social media during school hours.
- Students should ask permission if video taping or photography of a pupil.

2. No profanity
- We ask that we keep this classroom environment a friendly learning environment
- Profanity should not be spoken of in a age level that offends others.
- Please do not use profanity to bully others or start a fight.

3. Be nice to classmates, teachers, and teacher aids
- We all need to treat each other with equality
- You never know what students are facing in a bad day.
- These classmates may become your boss someday.
- Treat people how you want to be treated.

4. Be safe when using safety equipment for our new business
-NO horseplay
- You must be careful of what your working with for our business.
- Treat all safety equipment with respect.
- IF an item is misused, loss of privileges when using this item.

5. When an item is damage or destroyed, tell an adult.
-Do not try to fix it on your own.
- Do not try to hide it or blame others.
-Take action and responsibility to advocate for yourself if something you see is not good.

6. All homework should meet the expectation of when it is due.
- If not met when it is due, points are deducted on the grade.
- If it's late or asked for more time take advantage.
- Do not finish it the day that it is due.
- Take responsibility for having it.
-It is not my work, it is your work to have it.
- Must be neat, clean, and no rips in the paper.

7. DO your work!
- Make sure your doing what your suppose to do!

8. Stay on task!
-Don't talk to your neighbor or procrastinate!

9. NO cheating!
- If seen cheating, a 0 will be given for that assignment
- An alternate assignment will be given to replace the 0.

10. Please behave for the teacher or substitute teacher.
- If the teacher is out, respect the substitute teacher.
- Act like your in here with the actual teacher.

More will be added as the year progress.. And will be updating this next year! Let's make this a great school year! We look forward to having your student in our classes!

Any assistance should see Edward Seamz or Sally Asdoa for more info for Special Education and enrollment!

My caseload, I know this does not apply to you but I figure, hey why not promote a college on a Special Education thread at North Valley! But this might be entitled to someone who is interested of teaching at a college in Special Education. Emp. Leopold Richmond is running a college, we are now partners and we send all of our senior graduates to this college. They just opened up and they might be looking for employers to help their college out. If interested, contact me.

( From the North Valley YOhigh thread) "We have a college that we are zoned and good partnership with that is run by Emp Leopold Richmond. The university is called: The Preparatory University of Yoworld. They have five Open majors to offer at Yo Prep, English ELA, Mathematics, Science and Biology, Speech and Drama, and Yo-History. They are currently seeking people to enroll and or take a job at YoPrep. Check out their Facebook page below: https://www.facebook.com/PrepYo/ Seniors and underclassmen can get a college visitor, stop by Edward Seamz, Sally Asdoa, or Ms. Niyah when you return to school for more details."

If your interest about this college, we can arrange a college visit in self contained sometime in January!

Have a safe break!

PLEASE PAY ATTENTION to this announcement!

"If inclement weather such as snow, ice, hurricanes, and tornadoes affect your child's schedule when your child comes to school, it is our school's ability and responsibility that we keep our students safe. Your child's safety and education is VERY important to us. We will keep you in touch whether there is school tomorrow or not. We have our buses warming up over night that prevents any delays or mechanical repairs. Our weather team will be on the Yoworld roads to insure of tomorrow's decision.

PLEASE make sure your child wears extra clothing due to this arctic cold. There is 0 chance for snow yet, but our decision for tomorrow, Wednesday January 3rd 2018 is not effective as of right now. But there will be a possibility it may be effective.

PLEASE watch the Yoworld weather and keep up with this thread for tomorrow's decision. We will have someone to update you on tomorrow's decision.

If your child becomes sick during this weather, please call the school to let us know.

If school is open and you don't think your child can be safe in this storm, they can have an excused absence."

- Principal Jack Easton.

PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING IMPORTANT INFORMATION BELOW FROM YOUR PRINCIPAL WITH IMPORTANT NEWS! THANK YOU!

"Yesterday we had a first lock down drill of the semester! It was okay however, thank you for those who
followed directions. We had an incident in the building that YPD was involved and did a search on all
students, faculty and teachers. They believe someone was vandalizing the school function which we
have zero evidence of who did it or why. However, they found a few drugs and zero weapons from our
students. Please keep in mind to never bring drugs and or weapons. Yes, we think if there is ever a
time to protect yourself in school, you think we'd be okay with it? Think carefully of the decisions we
make. If we find you doing one of those two things, it won't be pretty!" - Principal Jack Easton

Thank you students and teachers for cooperating during this lock down! If you have more concerns
about the lock down or anything doing with bad behaviorist students, please ask our principal Jack
Easton or any faculty. Please do not spread rumors about this to any students. Thanks!
