I been reading through the forums and I see a lot of WTF's and what not, but I wonder if anyone objects to these. One could say they mean "what the frig," or whatever. But we all know what it really means. I bring this up, because I just saw someone reply to someone with a IDGA*f*. Okay may as well just say it then. Is there really a difference? If someone types that, I've been on line so long I automatically read it as its intended to be read. Since there are people of all ages here is it appropriate.

Don't get me wrong I'm not against swearing. But in a public forum - I dunno whats your view?

I don't think it's appropriate. I did see a couple "wtf" earlier from the same thread I think you're talking about and it just felt wrong idk. I don't like saying "wth" either so I just go with heck. Unless it's a PM or out of the forums I think it should just stay rated G :P.

As long as it's not spelled out I don't think it matters. Sure, most of us know what those mean but if people don't want kids to see that, they shouldn't allow them on the forum or they should supervise them at least. Not allowing abbreviations is too much censorship, imo.

I think you're right, but unfortunately alot of kids already know what it means and use it to almost every sentence written, i'm saying alot of what I've seen, not all. :)

I'm sure you understand I'm talking about offensive words. A way to get away with dropping the F bomb with out dropping it.

But if a bomb is dropped in a forest and no one hears it, is it still a bomb?
Jk, no clue what I just said lol.

I dunno the glib IDGA* really just rubbed me the wrong way.. I guess there is a certain amount of tone that can just make it seem that much worse.

That's pretty much the problem with text though, you can't really know how the other person is exactly feeling. I do think "idgaf" is pretty heavy on wording.

You're supposed to be 13 to play this game (and have Facebook), and if you're 13 you should know what swear words are... especially if you're using the internet  that's the problem, it's everywhere. If they don't see it on here, they see it on Twitter or Facebook or some other social network site/forum. I don't object to it. That said I do think that someone saying IDGAF is unbelievably rude.

Exactly. And it's up to parents to babysit or shelter their kids, not up to the interwebz

Yeah well the kids are here, always have been always will be. They can be sneaky that way lol. Some of them seem to the wheelers and dealers in trading. We could learn from them! So yeah they are here anyway.. and Yes I also understand they prob the ones using them the most. I just, well I never talked in front of my kids like that, so yeah.. Maybe its just me. I dunno. Its not even about the kids, either. Some adults may find it offensive too. Particularly our older members.

I agree to some extent. I do not think anyone would be comfortable if some random person just sent you a PM pretty much telling you to "gtfo" because they dont "gaf" about your "wtf" looking face, or something like that lol

I understand what your saying here - But if we can't use the F word - and we all know we can't. I dunno hard to explain my feelings on it. Its kinda like cheating a work around. Ya know?

I think ultimately its about respect.. Certainly with the internet and texting the language is ultimately changing.

I know what you're saying. Unfortunately though, there will always be disrespectful people both in Yo and in the real world. And even if they didn't use the acronyms they will still find a way to be rude and disrespectful.
