Someone is hosting an event saying they're giving coins away(like every night.) When I arrived they told me to wait in another room. They cleared out the main room and then joined me.

First they "scanned" me as proof that they had a quick way to earn coins and were "legit." I'm glad someone had warned about scanning or I would have panicked and ran screaming "hacker!"

Then, they asked me to download "ViewFinder" because they were going to "guide" me to cheating( uh no thanks, selling items is fun.) I use ViewFinder for work so I know this program allows other users to control your computer. So at this point I started thinking about how to report. What they were doing doesn't fall under any categories.

I was going to try to gift them so there could be a "trail" of sorts to their account but I froze. When I saw they were hosting an event again, they booted me.

Keep an eye out. Never give out your passwords out or download any programs. I know someone will fall for this persons scam tonight and that's sad to know. :o :( :?

When I see players say "I was scammed!" I wonder if they're a complete noob and/or 11 years old and/or stupid - which is, I guess, a small defence. That's because I'm a nice person, willing to give the benefit of the doubt. Because the reality is that, even if they ARE a complete noob, 11 years old or stupid, they must surely know that downloading an external program to get free coins is cheating. No sympathy from me.

I have warm hands and a cold heart!

This scam has been around for years.
They use to use team viewer or something.

I think if you are giving people such free access to your account you are just asking for it... And really it's karma for trying to cheat....

(I'm in no way justifying scamming.)

I say over and over in this forum.... if people wouldnt want something for nothing, or at least way easier than it should be, scams would go away. I am glad you caught on... anyone who is old enough to play on a computer unsupervised should be taught about these things right away! Team Viewer should only be able to be downloaded after age verifications IMO. Proper ones... like CC info or something.
