Hello everyone!
I don't really play yoworld as I used to, however I can't be the only one getting annoyed by the overly- HD and realistic items, they seem to be copy-pasted from real life and they do not match the avatar's body and features, I just wish BVG would take into consideration that overly-detailed items, or 3d items (i don't know how to explain it) seem sloppy and more of copy-pasted into the game rather than having an effort put into it.

hey!

those are photorealistic items! they use AI to create them. Lots of people actually really love them. I am not one who loves them. I am totally with you. I wish they would go back to vector graphics.

I think a variety is nice —

while Im not a huge fan of the photo done items — I personally would allow player designers; using the guidelines given alot more of the teams energies — and focus on player designs rather then the photo quickly things they have been offering (youre aware that players could in fact do the art for this game with little efforts — giving us a truly player driven experiences…. while it’s done on other platforms, giving us some in game design tools would be amazing

in fact BVG if your reading this — think about that; while you might not have the freedom to do that in this platform ……as a gaming company I would think about developing a platform that was in fact fueled on player designs. Without all the hassles and legalities of on line gambling

Every item sold in the game will not appeal to every player

For example - the Player Designers all have their own unique styles that are different to the 'classic' YW style.....I welcome that

The offering of a wide range of style options is likely to appeal to a wide range of players

One player's 'ugly' is another player's 'cute' ;)

You're referring mostly to fashion and avatars. You're correct on that. But it's also problematic with decor. Even when there's something decorative that looks nice and is an AI item, it doesn't blend in with the classic stuff.

yes but when they're sticking the words into the AI the description needs to be "cartoon" or "animated" or "The S*ms" not photorealism
its fairly simple to AI up an image for Yo as there are a few well-known animated character games that you can ask it to base the drawing on ...
but hey what do I know

and they don't even go well together I tried and nope ....

Designers are like gods, and since I'm not one, it seems I don't get a say. My role is just to fawn and praise the almighty design gods. Criticism? That's off-limits—if you’re not a designer or don’t have a loyal gang of followers with your name as a tag, your opinion doesn’t count.

Your opinion does count - which is why you're allowed to be right here voicing it

But others, with different views to yours, are equally allowed to share theirs

Should things that *you* don't like not be offered at all?

Where would that leave me - I like and am wearing the skirt right now?

Im learning to design (0r at least I was, until my real life decided to slip off the rails and honestly was so very hurt by the way BVG handles submissions and requests for feedback - the feedback I got was so offensive; the person in question didnt even bother to open the file and look at my efforts — I was so insulted that it’s been a lot just to remain thoughtful in my interactions. ) I do understand it isnt their place to teach me to use this software (Im a BFA and have earned money as a fiber artist … Im also by far the oldest player trying to design for the game. I also have a start date of 12/08 with myspace account that is long gone)

I will defend any of our designers; things others might not realize — is that this is very time consuming; even for those with files that can be changed around to produce new looks or if your starting with nothing — there is a lot of time. There is a lot of effort to these looks; even the most basic of looks.

I dont buy based on who made the fit either
There is something in every outfit that typically expresses what my wee yo is trying to express

This is about expressing your wishes and doing things that appeal to you — if there are things you feel are missing; Im happy to make an effort and we can see if BVG agrees (there isnt anything that I cant do; if I have enough time — so dont shy away — I’m seriousImage I was looking for a bag I was making LOL - just so you are aware, I can draw ;) this is part of steam punk idea Im still working on

great post. i like the skirt a lot. it looks high waisted to me, great style from the '80's. i dislike when someone calls any item ugly. style is very subjective, like beauty is in the eye of the beholder. or one mans' trash is another mans' treasure. or what appears sexy to one is trashy to another.

I did NOT call the item ugly I quoted LindyLou Who
I know it gets difficult to see who is saying what on here especially when there is so much quoting being done
I was talking about using AI and the "god" like designers and not being allowed to voice my opinion about a design because I don't have a design in the game with my name on it.
and my opinion did NOT say the design was ugly I said ---> [ they do not go well together]

You’re free to dislike it when someone calls an item “ugly,” but why take it as an insult? It’s just a personal opinion.....! You may not share that perspective, but it’s important to respect it. ;)

You definitely get a say? no one is asking you to fawn and praise player designers? not every player design is going to be everyone's cup of tea and that is okay. The photorealistic items they have been producing are controversial... some love some dislike them... it is what it is ... the wallets will do the talking i guess.

I'm a budding designer, as well. I also realize this, but when those very same people set up posts offering to help, but don't provide the simplest starting point, possible, it's often very difficult to remain positive and optimistic!

I didn't realize this, either, until I started scratching around in Photoshop, trying to design my own looks! Even my Billy Basic offerings took HOURS to put together!! While I'm on this point, it's hard to see the different elements of my overall design mashed together for voting!! Each of those pieces required effort and so, so, SO much time!!

Beatrice (178761483) wrote:I dont buy based on who made the fit either...

Me, either!! I buy based on what I like, what suits my YoDex personality! If the platinum isn't platinuming, I won't buy a hair! If the shirt doesn't 'tuck' into the pants, I won't buy it! I'm with you on this, for sure!!

I'm going to chime in, on this, too.

Let me be very honest...I thought the very same way, too!! One designer, in particular, got me so fired up and angry, I made a comment saying "We should just change the name of the game to DESIGNER NAME-World since their designs eat UP this game!!"

This was a case of me being eaten UP with jealousy!! JEA-LO-SEEE!!! Jealousy!!

One day, I did a search of just how many of their items occupied space in my inventory! Hypocrisy, thy name is DEX DEXTER!! I had over twelve pages of their hair, hats, coats, and pants - even some shoes and handhelds!

Another day, I took the time to really study their work. To get in and look at the shading, the detail, and realize the insane amount of time it took them to - wait for it - learn how to do what they did!! Me? I'm a handdrawn type of Yo. I still break out the pencils and pens when I want to draw something. I enjoy the medium and I spent a while learning how to use it. Digital art, while instantaneous, leaves me flummoxed, at times.

But...

Instead of hating on this designer and letting myself get consumed by the JELLO-SEEE, I started putting together outfits by this designer and studying how they fit together, what aspects made them sell, and what elements made me buy them!

This is a long-winded way of saying...ease up a little on some of these "name" designers. They're not gods - well, except for the one that has the word in their name - they've just developed their skill to a level others haven't. In this way, they're very similar to Gianni Versace, Calvin Klein, Yves St. Laurent, or Diane von Fürstenberg.

It can feel disheartening when your choices, in game are limited. This limitation comes from these designers being featured while others are ignored. If you want to shift this reality - VOTE - in the design contests!! Vote for what you want to see!!!

please reread my post and comprehend i did not say i took someone calling something ugly as an "insult" as you posted. i posted i DISLIKE someone calling something ugly. i just dislike the word ugly in general. my grandmother taught me and my sisters growing up we were not to use the word ugly. therefore i can feel dislike without feeling insult.

dictionary meaning of verb the word dislike - verb - to feel distaste or hostility toward, -noun, a feeling of distaste for hostility

dictionary meaning of the word insult - verb - speak to or treat with disrespect or scornful abuse,;noun, - a disrespectful or scornfuly abussive remark or action, a thing so worthless or contemptible as to be offensive
