I have noticed something troubling. When trying to find NPCs, I realized there are few NPCs of color in a variety of categories. There are several relaxing/lounging/shopping ones, some deemed "exotic," some in trendy clothes, but I find few of African or Asian or Latin involved in working (save for some chefs or vendors), no gardeners, no factory workers, no executives (save for the Black groom NPC, who is dressed in suit and tie), no shopkeepers, etc. I am building a monastery and found three monk NPCs, all white. Not cool. How do we fix this? The country i am building is not white supremacist. We need more diverse and not by "othering" by calling them "exotic," which is an insulting term.

I would also love to see a more diverse offering of NPC's. There are a few and when I do see them I scoop them up whenever I can.

We have been asking for awhile now. There is no shortage of fancy dressed white female NPCs. We have been asking for more normal, everyday type NPCs and more men, children and variety of skin/hair as well. We have asked for some with less makeup and such too. Hopefully they decide to listen and give us the variety we have been asking for.

I want NPC's for clothing we dont even have

I want dusty cowboys, hell's angels, in their bike leathers, I want chubby, tall, thin, short, cute, not cute, old, young ........ I more interesting cross section of our world, and with it the fits that are more culturally connected - for example native's in time frames where native clothing was worn, not to make fun to celebrate what was; you lose your humanity, if you forget the past and the struggles that bring us to where we are at now.

I want fictional things - films, tv, novels - ALLLLL!!!! have a great selection of allegories

I agree - more is better :)

I could actually use a a big biker type fella (and his old lady) for a theme I'm doing now. I see so many different types of people outside in my everyday life and I'd love to see the same in Yo.

Definitely, most of the male NPCs look like little boys to me. Hate it!

BVG relies almost exclusively on player designed NPC's. They get what they get and choose from that.

Blame the players or blame BVG? :?:

Plenty of great ideas in this thread — I hope you all are submitting these to the "NPCs You Want in Game - Open Call!!" thread: viewtopic.php?f=2&t=249860&start=180

Did you see Amirah Stephanie's amazing medical staff NPCs last week? (viewtopic.php?f=2&t=254882) Unfortunately, they were a limited-time offering, but during that time, you could claim one for free.

Some of the professions you mention are not represented in-game by any NPCs at all, such as factory workers and executives (and the only shopkeepers still in the store are either aliens or hostages), so those might be good theme suggestions, too. There are a couple of non-white gardening NPCs, but you'll probably have to search a variety of terms to find them since the naming is inconsistent.

I don't see any NPCs labeled as"exotic" that remain in stores; there were some "Exotic African Wedding" NPCs that Zynga released, but those were removed from the store long ago.

isn't one of the napa brides darker ?
I did a room using all of them so I think they are
and I think there are some in the other 1coin theme the beach one
There are few Australian Aborigonal NPC's as well in traditional clothes but I always thought they were a bit "off/racist" because they were only in traditional clothes there weren't any that were tour guides or nature park workers or police personell

A lot of the older NPC's aren't called NPC either which makes them difficult to find

You are so right though there isn't enough representation on Yo

edit :: look in the older themes that don't have codes 2014 and below there are a few although not many darker skinned NPC's
and the beach 1c theme is caribean

I got curious and started pulling NPCs that *could* represent people who do not identify as white into a room (I included light skin tones that could be light-skinned Latino, Asian, etc as well as obvious darker skin tones), and this is what I found in the first 600 or so that came up when I searched "NPC" in the store. These do not include anything NPCs that are no longer in the store.
