I really miss those outfit design contests! I really had fun doing designs for every theme, and now that the forums are back, I think it's the perfect time for new designing contests to be held. I know the BVG team asked us to send our works to them for a chance to have our designs in game, but contests are way more fun and challenging, and it's always great to see what will yodesigners come up with for every theme...

Yesssssss! I miss the competition spirit between all of us
It was always fun to see what people come up with with the set theme, and challenge them with your own designs and all :D

I know the design contests were never perfect, but with a few edits to the rules they could be better than ever :D
Plus this way peeps get to choose the outfits they like best, it will be less time consuming for the team to create stuff that people might not like as other stuff

I love the way they are handling the request for designers to submit their designs in privacy.
Those contests were too violent.
Too many people accusing others of cheating, ganging up on certain designers, rules not applying to all equally.
I for one will NOT miss those if they don't bring them back.

I won't miss them either. I think how they are doing it now is smart.

These contests bought out the very worst of the forums.

They still get to submit stuff and get it in game. Just without the petty viciousness that used to be rampant in the "contests" on this forum. Among other things.

Win/win, imo.

But you can't blame anyone for that except Zynga for not being able to handle all the drama and ignoring the fights and not taking any decisions concerning the rules. I for one didn't feel not even a little bit inspired to design anything to send to BVG, I sent some old stuff I did, but I don't think I'll be doing that again. Without the competition and the chance to see what others are doing, and also without the themes to go from, I personally won't be designing anything to have in game, and most of my designer friends agree with me.

I wonder why... Probably for the same reasons Zynga used to re-make the winning designs before releasing them in game.

I guess our perspectives are different because you are a designer, and I am not.
From my point of view...it was horrible. And I don't agree that it was Z's fault. It was EVERYONE'S fault. No one forced them to be as nasty and cut throat as they were. It was like watching a bunch of gangs going at it using words instead of knives! It got downright nasty.
I don't miss the threads where the designers are looking for admiration. I'm subscribed to all their pages so I can see the entries there. I guess we won't be enjoying your designs in game if that's your plan. I've had many designer friends submit gorgeous designs to Greg in private. I can't wait to wear those items in game :D
Again...different viewpoints I guess.

It was indeed everyone's fault, but zynga could have handled the drama in the right way. For instance, in some school, if there was a fight between 2 kids during a class, it's the teacher's duty to stop them before things get worse, just like zynga should have stopped the drama during these contests. If zynga took decisions concerning the rules and entries causing controversy, none of the drama would have happened.
And it's not about looking for admiration, it's about watching the designs entered for that specific theme, getting inspired, sharing opinions and ideas, feeling the competition, all of that pushed me to work harder on my entries.
I was actually one of those who hated the drama the most. I even started avoiding the contest discussion thread the last period just to avoid the drama. These contests have been long gone, but now I know their true value.

I agree with this. Maybe Z was responsible for the way the ninjas didn't follow their own rules consistantly, which cause many problems, but Z was not responsible for the vindictive and mean attitudes some designers displayed. Zynga did not make them trash other designers on FB........I think it is sad for the designers who did not engage in this kind of behavior, but overall I agree. They caused way too much drama.

We're not talking about kids in school, though. Most designers are adults and shouldn't have needed that kind of intervention.

I can understand what you mean about competition pushing you do to do better. I just think overall they bought out the worst in the forums AND quite a few designers. I dont know if they will not do contests in future, but even if they do choose to do it this way in future with themes - I hope you find inspiration and still submit. It would be a shame to miss out on the stuff you are capable of, simply due to a change in submission format.

I'm sorry you feel uninspired by not being involved in contests. I hope you find inspiration in something else if the contests don't come back. Your stuff was/is good and I enjoyed wearing it in game. You're too talented to let something like this stop you from doing what you're so good at. Only time will tell...and I could only hope BVG would handle the outrage and verbal violence A LOT better than Z ever did!

LOL well forget about kids, it's still zynga's duty to stop the drama, they were the hosts of the contest.
And thanks :) But now I feel more like doing yovideos, that will do it for me while waiting for contests.

First of all I'm so glad you like my designs, I appreciate it :) And if I wasn't sure BVG is able to host drama-free contests, I wouldn't have asked for them. I actually now believe anything is possible in this game with BVG.
