The following story is based on true events:

Last Halloween in YoWorld we had that cute Halloween theme and as I’m a little scared of too much gore and horror I was happy I could celebrate too by decorating a more wholesome Halloween home this time. I was almost done and I just had some minor things to add in order to finish the exterior of the house. Knowing how laggy YoWorld is and fearing a sudden refresh I placed my last two items which were two cute ghost dogs holding their little trick-or-treat buckets, saved my room, and lo and behold as soon as I clicked “save”, a refresh popped up!

I came back to my room to find a white generic avatar head standing on top of my ghost dogs. There was no name or no body and I could not click it so I’m certain it wasn’t a player. I quickly brushed it off thinking it was just another glitch and went into dressing mode to create my Halloween costume. I spent around 15 minutes dressing up and decided to “save” again before I got another refresh pop-up.

This time there wasn’t just one head but two! The second one seemed like it was sitting on one of my chairs. I tried clicking the head but once again it would not select it like it would with a regular avatar and yet I could not sit on that same chair. I refreshed thinking the game was being extra buggy that day but I came back to find three heads this time and the third one was not motionless like the others.

The third head was using one of my interactives, going up and down the stairs but yet again I could not click on the avatar nor use my interactive as it was “occupied”. I was so scared not because I believed in ghosts or the paranormal but because I feared some hacker was targeting me. I refreshed right away. I changed my passwords and all my authentication keys and didn’t log in back in the game until later that evening.

I came back and the three heads were still there so it just couldn’t be a player all this time, staying there and waiting for me for so long... The third head was using my interactive but it was going faster and faster the longer I stayed there. I could not click anywhere as this animated loop that the head was stuck in was getting increasingly faster and my game had completely lagged out. My entire screen started glitching and then it abruptly went black for a second. When my house reappeared all heads but the first one were gone. Suddenly the head started talking. Not talking per se but there was the chat bubble above its head and some random 1s and 0s. I took many screenshots thinking I could send in a ticket as this was maybe one of the weirdest and most severe bugs in the game but I was also so scared and acting very irrationally so I deleted the entire home and left the game for the rest of the night.

The next day I opened my computer but not the game as I was still feeling very off from that strange encounter the other day. I opened, however, my screenshots folder and looked at the pictures I had taken only to notice that the 1s and 0s were not that random but the exact same sequence of numbers again and again. 01001000 01100101 01101100 01110000 00100000 01101101 01100101. I wrote down the number and googled it. I clicked on the first result which was a page that translated binary code and every group of numbers apparently stood for a letter: 01001000= H 01100101=E 01101100=L 01110000=P 01101101=M 01100101=E.

Aussies don’t celebrate Halloween, so it’s just a normal day for me. It’s not much of a story so you don’t have to enter me in but last Halloween I was logged in on the game and a beggar joined my event asking for a treat, he wasn’t trick or treating, just treating LOL. I sent him a gift and he moved on, few hours later I got an inbox message from him saying how rude I was, because turns out I had sent him a “spotted dick pudding”. I guess he didn’t enjoy my trick :haha:

Clever, you. I faithfully looked that up, and I'll try baking that with cranberries since my partner doesn't like raisins. Unfortunately, I cannot enter it as it is under the 100 word minimum for this contest. Thank you for your engagement. I'll have to think of something else for next time. :eh: :dog

When I was growing up we had neighborhood friends that we would go trick or treating with. This would have been about 7th Grade. We went all around the neighborhood and to two adjacent neighborhoods and gathered our loot in big pillowcases. When we were done we came to our front lawn and dumped all of the candy on the grass and traded. Then we took our empty pillowcases and went out again. It was the best Halloween of my youth.
