Hello Yos!

Happy Holidays to everyone! :heart: To celebrate Christmas and the holidays this year, here are a few giveaways for all the lovely yos. Each one with a different task. I hope you enjoy them!

I'll be spinning random wheels on Christmas Eve and I'll gift everyone on Christmas day. I'll try to gift different yos for each giveaway :heart:

Giveaway #9:
Let's talk about Christmas foods and dishes :drool: Is there something you look forward to cooking or eating this holiday season? Anything special you ate as a kid or once when you visited another place during the Holidays? (Pictures would be greatly appreciated :haha:)

I'll go first. Here are some Greek ones I loooove :heart:

Melomakarona. They are biscuits soaked in syrup. I look forward to eating them every year.

Pastitsio. Not a holiday dish per se but one we usually make on Sunday dinners and special occassions as it's often more time consuming to make. It is made of pasta, minced meat and bechamel sauce. Image

Vasilopita. Yep. You heard it right. That's a pie named after me :haha: Literally translates to "the King's pie". It's either made of sweet bread or cake. We put a lucky coin called "flouri" inside and the lucky person who finds the coin in the piece either gets a prize, money or they're just congratulated for being very lucky :haha: We cut this one on New Year's.

it's not christmas relate but my grandma used to make this biscuit that looked just like a rooster and she would put edible shiny eyes on them and I love it so much. My grandma has long gone passed away but I still crave for and remember them till this very day. even my mom don't know the recipe she use to make it (UNFORTUNATELY) ;_;

Loved reading what you all above like as your favourite dishes around holiday time

My favourite food that I cook at Christmas time is a roast leg of lamb i cook it so the meat falls off the bone. When I was little we used to go to my grandparents house for Christmas lunch granddad was a very good gardener and had his own vegetable garden so would make a salad from the veggies he had grown and my grandma would make a jelly with fruits in it for dessert.

My mum makes THE MOST amazing roast potatoes. WORLD CLASS!!! Of course, all potatoes ARE valid, and LOVED in my household, BUT these potatoes are sooo crispy, with just the right amount of cooking oil, just...perfection!!

Being from Louisiana, I always make Gumbo during Christmas time.... I will be making it for my family's Christmas Eve dinner.

I also always make my mamaw's (grandma) "White Christmas Candy" ...Image

Sometimes, I also make beignets.. Image

But I want to point out that your Vasilopita looks alot like our southern cornbread...also a bread for kings :haha:
