To raise your level, you can purchase items, do Jobs and visit the Factory.

Decorating a room. I think it takes 10 new items in a room to level a room.
I bought a coined gothic home. LOOK HOW MANY ROOMS! if you level each room you will got up many levels just from that.
Do not forget the chest in the room count as items and toward your leveling up the room.
I put in 10 chests once and a few coined items from the store and it leveled a room. I think it takes more now. do not forget to use your keys and chests in a room to help you on your way along with coined items.

I suggest decorating. If you got empty rooms, place new Items (it says "new" on the item, in inventory) and decor as you like. For every room you fully decorate, you get 232 YoPoints (if I remember right), which is very nice. So if you decorate many rooms, you will level up quickly.

this is my personal way
Trailer home 5,000 (after you max a trailer price drops down to 4,500)
I only max on Sundays during Sunday sales (50% off items so your purchase price is lower to your sell back price versus average price items)
I buy lots of the same item between 875-1,000 coins/per item
12-13 items levels up one room in a trailer times 4 rooms in a trailer =52 items then I sell back all items and wallpapers gained from trailer
takes a lot of time and money but doing it only on the sale days makes it not cost as much
you get 232 points per room times 4 rooms = 928 points/per trailer just for decorating.
You also get points for purchasing the items. You have to buy the items singly to maximize points gained.
