Yes. I might be asking a sort of dumb question here, but I cannot figure it out!
I never messed with entering the gem challenges till recently so I'm a total newbie. When I buy items to go in a challenge room or when I take them from my inventory, do they return to me when the challenge is over? I just did a room challenge and I'm really hoping that I didn't just "throw away" all those items.

I appreciate the time that anyone is willing to take to answer my question.

Never mind. I finally found that the entire room from the challenge goes into your list of houses!

Yes we don't lose any items. We can't access them while voting is happening but once it's overwith you'll find the room and all your items at the very end of your house list. I sort it backwards to find it.

The rooms do not hold layering though, so if you used the layering tool during your submission, it will submit the same way you see in the "Ready to Submit" window, and voters will see it that way, but when you return to it, the layered items will be a bit wonky.

yes !! if you sell them everything goes back into inventory same as it would with any other house eg; Trailers ( I use them to level up rooms and get the discount) then DELETE the Trailers
I never keep my Gem Challenge rooms unless they get a VERY high score
