How do you get the tokens on gems? (Top left corner) Also, the bar that says "unlocks at 290", how does it get advanced? Thank you for your help.

you can get the tokens by participating in the decorating or dress up challenges, the number of tokens you get depends on the rating you get. someone else could probably explain better then me. but I hope it helps!

Let me help explain it shortly.

The gem challenge consist of 2 category, room decorating challenge & dress up challenge.
The better you decor or dress up, the higher chance you can get many gems because then many player will vote for your rooms or your outfit.

And the answer for your question is, if you hit specified number of gems, let's say 50, 100, 200, you'd get extra gifts without having to spend your gem on them.
