I've heard that many player designers use paint to design

I believe there are some "blank" avatars (i.e. without clothes or underwear or facial features, etc.) you can download, then you just design the clothes to go over the top of them. Not sure how you get the blank avatars though - maybe you have to register with BVG as a designer?

There are three ways:

a.) hand-draw
b.) photoshop
c.) hand-draw + photoshop

Hand Draw
THIS IS THE BEST WAY FOR THOSE WHO ARE NOT GOOD ON EDITING BUT GOOD IN DRAWING
First, you need to bring out your hand and your draw, just kidding. Bring out your paper and pencil/pen, and you can just take a picture of it. If you want it to be pretty cooler, you can scan it using a scanner or a Multi-functioned printer.

Photoshop
THIS IS THE BEST WAY FOR THOSE WHO ARE NOT GOOD ON DRAWING BUT GOOD IN EDITING

Using a photoshop, you can 'shop' for your photo using editing tools, there are Many online photo shops, soMe are (click naMe for link) pixlr, fotor, Luna Pic, etc. There are also downloadables. For me, Adobe Photoshop CS6 is the best, but you'll pay for it. Paint, is also considered a photoshop. About the tools on the photoshops, you can always view tutorials on youtube (or vimeo).

Hand-Draw + Photoshop
THIS IS THE BEST WAY FOR THOSE WHO ARE GOOD IN EDITING AND DRAWING!
Firstly you need to draw in a paper, scan with a scanner, then send it/copy paste it on a editing software/photoshop, then edit! That's how it goes. This is what I'm always planning to do.
