Hi Autumn, Welcome to the community forum.
When you go to your inbox, you accept them. You have 2 ways to accept them.
1. Accept one at a time
2. Accept All.
I like to do number 1. with all the "accept send" first all the way down the row. I am pretty sure if you do this with your friend you get an extra gift. Then when I did this all the way down the 50 sent, (as only 50 hold at a time) I then scroll back up to the top and accept all.

Once you get your little boxes of coin gift boxes you can then go into your inventory box and see how many you have. Here is a different story.
1. We can only get the Max number of coins from a chest from 250 chests. Anything more than 250 chest is mere pennies. Opening any amount past 250 is not worth much so I let them sit and add up.
I use it as emergency fund. LOL or maybe some day BVG will have mercy and let us open more than 250 for the max at once.
2. Everyone you send out is also a gift to yourself. If you send out 400 to 400 people you get back what you sent out. You automatically get the same amount you gift to others. This kind of prevents people from making alt accounts as they need to gift to get. If they do not gift, they kinda not get or get a whole lot less then the rest of the players who are "normal.'

I think you are getting 'blanks' I think the blanks are those who stopped playing. Maybe your list needs to be updated?
We can now make catagories in our buddy list. In buddy list go to top and start making catagories and put all those with +20 weeks in their own catagory. call it +20 weeks. drag them in there. These are non active players and from these you cannot get a gift back. I am not sure but i thought we could not get back a gift from an inactive player or one who has quit or died.
