I used to know how, but seem to have forgotten, or i'm broken! I can use either chrome or firefox, and the best I can do is in firefox, but i can only do the space nearest the inventory by flicking an inventory item up in to the bottom space, I cant get to spaces any further. I prefer chrome, is there a working method for that? Thank you :)

I am on a google chromebook by samsung and I have no clue how to do this. I think you need a certain type of browser or something cause I know some people have been able to do it.

I have been unable to use the black space area using chrome since I stopped using my pc running XP. I've tried several times using my new windows and have yet to figure it out. Guess I'll be running back to the old pc until it perishes from severe virus infections. "sigh" (Thanks alot Windows!) :(

If you are on chrome you need to disable one of these, for some reason they dont like each other.
To get to this pic type chrome://plugins/ into your chrome browser, hit details on the right hand side of your page and scroll down to adobe flash player, you want it to look like my pic with the top one disabled and the bottom one enabled.

Whenever chrome updates you will probably have to fix it again.
To use the black space fill trick- Go into edit, left click the item you need, then right click it straight after, the show profiler option box should come up and then right click where you want the item to go. Dont do this with items from the shop as they will dissapear as soon as you hit save, buy them first, save and then edit.

The old way to fill in the black spaces is with rugs, windows, plants, walls, anything that sits on top of other things.

I've tried your instructions and the items jump back into inventory when I attempt to position them. Is there something I'm missing?

Are you letting go after you get the show profiler menu box? You used to have to drag it in so I think thats where some people have gone wrong.
Using left click drag your item out of invo a little bit, then use your other finger to hit right click, This is when you should see the show profiler menu, then holding nothing place your cursor where you want your item, then hit left click to place it, Sorry itd be so much easier to show you lol.

I use Fox Fire browser and have no problem covering dark areas doing the following:
Right and Left click mouse at the exact same time and then immediately click on the area you want the item to go. It takes a little practice but it works for me. Good Luck!

This site shows how I was doing it up to a few weeks ago. It does not seem to work for me anymore. But it may for others.

I'm running W7 and use Google Chrome. I have no problem putting stuff into the black spaces.

1. Find item in edit mode that you want to place in black space.
2. Left click (hold it down!!)
3. Right click twice (with left mouse still held down)
4. You should have the 'profiler' at this point. If you do, it's safe to let go of both of the mouse buttons.
5. Place in room by left clicking. :)

Do you do the clicking (bolded in quote) with the right or left mouse?

I have tried on Google Chrome without success, now seeing if Firefox works any better.

It can be confusing but here are some things to consider (forgot to save my sticky about this blah)

Chrome comes with it's own flash, I reformatted recently so had only that. I had to go to firefox and dl flash the regular way before I could disable one in Chrome to get it working. Sooooooooooooo if you use Chrome almost all the time try going into firefox, go to the adobe flash website and update manually. Then try in Chrome again, or even in FF if you prefer.

Also IF you get it working it is 100% allowed. No third party program is used.

This one finally worked for me with XP and chrome.
