I've heard this crazy rumor lately, that people actually fake rets, and there are fake rets floating around YoWorld. I've been thinking about buying some, but I don't want to buy a knockoff. How do I tell the real ones from the fake ones?

There are "fake" ones in game, however, those can not be traded as far as I know. If you can actually trade/buy a pair, they should be the real deal.

We had an incident in game before Zynga let it go where people were creating fake items and selling them. There was no way to know if the item you purchased, from the Auction House lets say, was real or not until after the purchase had been made. Once you looked at that item in your inventory, if it had "Free Gift" under it, then you knew it was fake.
I spent 5m on a hair that I had wanted, to only find out it was a FG item and deleted it right away.
However, since BVG took over the game, because a lot of people paid a lot of coins for items that they didn't know were fake, BVG decided to let them keep that item, but it is no longer tradeable.
