I'm fairly new to yoWorld. What exactly is a mafia? Is it a good thing to join?

Mafia is as old as the game. It's just a group of people that hang out together, and are a "Family"
Like ...the army, the Tent Army, the Flower powers, the Towers, the Carrots, the Pickles, Werewolfs, Vampires... etc.

Some pay you coins to be in it, some you pay coins to be in. it's just a group within the game..that found something to do to make the game fun. lol.

I've personally never gelled* with any group or family that I joined, however, I see many players that form a tight bond and thoroughly enjoy playing online. You should give it a go to see if it's your thing.
