Hello All, I started working on this tour a few months ago, before I knew YoWorld would offer so many great Day of the Dead items. I celebrate Day of the Dead and not Halloween, so this was a wonderful surprise. I decided to try to tell a story with my Day of the Dead tour which is about a death journey. It is not intended to be spooky or frightening, but rather a shift from life to death and a chance to remain in that middle ground near family or to move on.
I hope some of you will like this tour.
If you want to walk through it, you can find it here:
https://apps.facebook.com/playyoworld/?d=h78710002You begin with with the living who are remembering the dead. They are joined by the spirits of those who have returned to visit them on these Day of the Dead Days. They are welcomed with flowers and lots of color and foods and drinks and candles. I have added a death guide shrouded in black to take the newly dead onto the next journey. Here the dead and newly dead see how they are loved by those they have left behind. Many spirits gather as orbs of light around the graves. The spirits walk among the living and the death guide leads the newly dead to make their journey on. The newly dead must cross a river with a strong current that will make them tired. The death guide will no longer be with them. There is, however, a spirit dog that will rescue them if they cannot swim and bring them to the other side. The newly dead are welcomed to the land of dead where they will need to understand they are no longer part of the living. They will need to crossover and cannot look back. They may need time to think through things first, so they can take time to contemplate their life and their death. Here they can contemplate all that they need to before joining the dead. When they are ready they can join the dead and visit these places that will seem like versions of life: Later, if they are remembered by their loved ones in October and November, they can make the journey home, following the scent of marigold petals. It will be a long journey. When they arrive home to the land of the living, they will be hungry and thirsty. They will take energy from food and drink left on the ofrenda their loved ones have set up to guide them home. They will see their loved ones doing the mundane things of life and will join them for these few days. They visit in October and November for many years, but at some point their soul will feel ready to journey on into the warmth of love and mystery.
