Hey now and Pax Vobiscum!
This thread exists as a compendium of info, photos, etc. on the peace eductaqion project that is
GOLDMAN MILL, THE INDEPENDENT VIRTUAL MICROSTATE OF PEACE. Goldman Mill is a nation with a strong collective government, a heartfelt credo and constitution that bind us, national activist and altruist efforts, vibrant shops, rich cultural and educational gems, and good clean fun... We'll share highlights along the way as this post goes on.
We've been working on this since 2007, and you can see the whole history of joy and heartbreak for this proudand peaceful city-state at our blog at
http://goldmanmill.wordpress.com. Goldman Mill now exists and is under construction at Yoworld.
Here, we'll share photos from our tiny peace collective nation along with tidbits of info that gives meaning (and valuable education on peace, nonviolence, activism, ecology, and progressive values) for members and nonmembers with an interest. LOTS to learn...
First pro tip whilst touring The Mill... When you see street names, building names, etc... in 97% of the cases, these are real people with real stories and accomplishments. Look them up on Google and learn about what they did to help make the world better... and gain inspiration for what YOU can do...
LET'S GET STARTED: As our blog notes, Goldman Mill exists on an island in the North Atlantic beyond the authority of either the US or Canada or any other nationalistic construct.
The Mill is known and revered worldwide for the peace education and leadership it provides for global citizens, for the absolutely groovy tourist experience it offers peaceful people, for the work it does across the planet for humanitarian and human rights efforts, and for its leadership in matters concerning sustainable living; diplomacy and conflict resolution; renewable energy; and ecological cleanup, preservation, and revivification. Though largely self-reliant out of necessity and choice (we fled other nations to create our new home, after all; there are reasons--see the blog), The Mill does enjoy fruitful trade relations with many countries. Among GM's top exports: peace education kits, cannabis (only to places where it is legal), art (fine, written, performing), renewable energy technology, GM-branded items.
To reach the tiny nation, most travel by sea. (There is a small airfield, but its use is highly restricted; more on that in future.) And many reach The Mill via the Peace Schooner aka Peace Cruiser. Here, we see its arrival at Goldman Mill Pier.
Be sure to check out the ship's deck. And after your arrival move through the pier area and head to the Goldman Mill Security Center, which houses Customs and the Travelers' Lounge. Every arriving person (and belongings) must be screened in Customs, where the traveler is advised of and his or her assent is ascertained regarding expectations of conduct and character. Next, the person must be approved by a magistrate before being permitted within the Peace Island nation. (Most of the process is done prior to your setting sail, so if you are "clean," this takes relatively little time.) Baggage Claim can be found at the Goldman Mill Security Center as well, along with a lovely lounge where one can relax, get a bite to eat, or enjoy the amenities.
