so I've been burnt out lately, been working way too many double shifts due to lack of employees or the ones that we have don't want to come into work. I'm tired, stressed, and been thinking about quitting this job because my own bosses don't see all the effort I put in. Don't get me wrong, I love my job and my customers but I get no appreciation for everything I've done. If you don't already know I work at a little coffee shop in my college, I love the customers and serving coffee but I don't love all the behind the scenes drama and all the favoritism. I've been working 6 days a week with a few of them being double shifts and do I get a simple "thank you"? Nope... nothing, it's like they don't see all that I do for the company. I'm often left alone for many hours to deal with the long lines of customers and I'm only one person. My customers have been getting upset seeing me stuck by myself and have put in complaints but not against me. This job is gonna kill me if something doesn't change soon. I've not called in sick once but I have been tempted to many times and yet all my co-workers and my bosses have called in sick more times than I can count. I've been trying to find time to do the things I love like painting and I want to start streaming my art but I am unable to. YoWorld is like my break away from work and I have been enjoying talking to peeps in the game and doing my little Give-aways but it doesn't stop all the stress I've been feeling because of my job. I had a talk with the lady at HR and told her that if things don't start changing soon I'll be looking for work elsewhere... I need a break or a long vacation... I can't keep going like this, my health is more important. I just wanted to vent so thank you all for allowing me to vent here. Hope you all are having a better time in your lives and your jobs than I am and I hope your bosses appreciate you!

The age old problem of being over worked and underappreciated is one we all face at some time during our work life. A bad boss allows you to do so in thankless anonymity. A lot of people (especially bosses) unfortunately see a paycheck as enough of a "thank you". The cost to them is infinite turnover. I've left 2 jobs because of it, and made sure to set up the next one before leaving. Both times they tried to give me more money to stay.. *sigh*

I hope you figure out what makes you happy and just do that. If that means telling them "no" to double shifts, do it. If that means pointing out their lack of attention to your work, then do it. If that means asking for more money for what you already do, then do it. The point is that venting is healthy, but it won't fix the issue. Make them fix it, or you fix it. But don't let it eat you up.

Good luck! :)

I can write a strongly worded email to your bosses as a concerned customer and also ensure they acknowledge all you have done.
I am very persuasive!

Now is a great time to make work related changes in the U.S. dunno about elsewhere. If you have flexibility now is the time to bounce. Start testing the waters... Maybe it is time for change.
