So I'll give you my standard example when confronting this topic. 100 years ago it was ok for a 50 year old man to marry a 13 year old girl and knock her up. In many cultures this was considered normal. These days people go to jail. What changed? It was just as vile back then - that truth didn't change. Our cultural acceptance of the truth changed, but the truth did not.
This is the slope so many people get on. They can argue that anything is ok, if they choose to do it. They have taken the truth of a morality and buried it to fit their version of morality. So many people run from "wrong" and "right" discussions now because of this reality. Everyone is afraid to stand up for what is right, because they've either accepted the lie or worse, they want the lie to become the truth - when it never can be. I have dozens of examples here, but all of them will get eggs thrown at me as I gore scared cow after sacred cow.
It really is maddening how many lies people will accept to justify who they choose to be.

I ask these questions because I am growing more and more concerned about society as a whole. We no longer hold anyone accountable - especially ourselves. We accept lies as the truth when they suit our view. We reject truth as lies when it contradicts what we want to believe. We've even coined a new term - "my truth" - that is the most narcissistic and arrogant thing I've ever heard.
