2020 sure has been a crazy year. How are you all going to celebrate the holidays?
Before-hand I'd like to say please don't attack each other over responses.
The covid situation and restrictions may not be the same in every country.
Same goes for unique circumstances.

As for me, this is the first time in the last 7 years that I am off throughout all of the christmas holidays (in Germany we have three, the 24th , Christmas Eve, as the main holiday, and the 25th, and 26th). In 2013 I had worked in retail, and many stores open at least half the day on the 24th. That was also the first year of living far away from my family. Then 2014 until now and still going I've worked as a security guard. "Bad guys" don't take days off, so we work throughout weekends, nights, holidays and the pandemic . Last year in fall I filed out my leave request for 2020, and tried my luck to get christmas. While it was initially granted, I feared it may be canceled due to the bad staff situation. Luckily it still went through.
So I am going up North to be with my brother and mother. 3 people from 2 households is within our restrictions.
Most traditional christmas meals include meat or seafood, and with my mom vegetarian, she usually makes potato salad and Wiener/Vienna sausages (for the rest of the family) with potato salad (that she will eat as well) , which is another traditional German christmas meal. Not sure if we stick with that this year as well, or if she wants to make something else.
Another lucky factor is that two of my closest friends happen to be colleagues from my shift. I guess going through the same nonsense does bring you closer, if the personalities fit. So we are having a little christmas snack with alcohol-free Glühpunsch (mulled punch, you drink it hot), cookies and gift exchange together at work.
The gates have to be manned anyway. Why not by colleagues who are friends with each other?

Rented a NC cabin and can't wait! It's my first Christmas off ever.

I hope wherever you are or wherever you go, it's special and wonderful.

I'm taking 14 days off of work. Looking forward to getting some other things done that I've been neglecting.

Christmas Eve will be spent at my aunt's home, as it is every year. Me, my mom, my aunt & my uncle. Not a lot of people. :drink:

Christmas Day will be spent at home with just me & my parents. We'll unwrap gifts, cook a good Christmas dinner, etc.

I hope y'all have a wonderful holiday. :drink:

Never done that, but imagine christmas in a cabin to be magical. Enjoy every moment of it.
And I am sorry you also have to work throughout christmas usually.

Small family circle celebrations are some of the best. My family does it the same way.
Have a wonderful christmas

That is so amazing. I see it the same way. Pets are family. So of course they are incluced in the celebrations.
Sadly my landlord won't let me have any pets, or I'd happily be a momma to 2 kitties. hehe
My sister has a cat and I always bring birthday and christmas gifts for her. My sister's boyfriend thinks it's silly, but I don't care.
Have a lovely christmas

Rented this place to hide out for the week. Going to hike and fish and cook great food. And ride that jacuzzi with a cold beer....hopefully while it snows. :)

Thank you! I'm excited. It's normally okay, it's a great time to get caught up after a really busy season. But, I am thankful for it this year, it's brought a little added cheer in an otherwise kind of weird and isolating year.

My dog travels with me and that's nice, I agree she's family.

Rod, that cabin looks fantastic. I hope you have fun and catch lots of fish. Fish for Christmas isn't a bad idea at all.

Busy with some activities: Helping old people to get stuff before Christmas, bringing food to care homes and pet shelters, cooking for people who are ill, etc. Today started with Christmas trees, making sure people who don't have one yet, can get one in house... All this will be done until 24th.

I don't celebrate Christmas, so 25th and 26th is time to relax, watch some movies and hot choco and some cookies. 27th spending day with kids.

Happy Holidays to all! :)

My country is under lockdown, and they are bringing back traveling passes next week. This means I won't get to visit my family for Christmas, and it will be the first time we aren't together for this occasion. I don't mind being away from home, but being alone for holidays is something else.

I'll probably make a nice dinner, watch movies and try not to mope around too much. :haha:
I hope everyone has a good time and happy holidays.
