I don't understand it all but my son sent me this and I thought I'd share. I wonder if Yo has a future in this. It would be awesome.

I don’t think it’s a popular enough game to finance that sort of transition.

This thread was made hour and hours after.
I was told in that thread to look at the op in this case:

She surpasses me in every way so thought and learnt from the other thread she doesn't need my 'modding' and left it alone.
But then another lady told me to stick to my guns and do the right thing by reporting to andrew.
And now you're questioning my consistency.
Everybody is telling me to do something different, and I'm just here having no idea what do :/

There's nothing wrong with the link. I can't believe the nonsense I'm reading. It isn't a game either. it's merely explaining what Metaverse is and I thought it was cool because that's what the internet is becoming. Even Facebook is changing it's name to Meta because of it. Look somewhere else for drama, I'm too old and not interested.

It's a great story and it certainly is the dream of many a silicon exec.......

It feeds off the dissatisfaction so many people have with reality, and leverages the need to feel important. By seamlessly interfacing digital platforms, their hope is to create a virtual world where people can "live" in any shell they choose. The concept is very dystopian and has been portrayed in many movies. People laying around all day immersed in sensory interfaces spending hours and days enjoying a fabricated existence detached from their realities. It is the perfect "matrix". Imagine virtually grocery shopping and buying your food from Amazon in the metaverse, touching and smelling it, and then checking out in the metaverse to have it delivered to you live a few hours later. After grocery shopping you meet up with friends in the metaverse and go see Fast & Furious 25 in the metaverse theater. Afterwards you remember you need to go to go to the metaverse bank, where you check to make sure your paycheck was deposited, and then catch a coffee that you can actually taste at the metaverse Starbucks.

That's the world these guys want. Churches. Schools. Banks. Libraries. Museums. Games. Movies. Concerts. Work. Restaurants. If it exists in your world now, they want it tied into the metaverse experience.

Not for me, but whatever floats the ole boat for people. Fun read and fascinating concept though. Thx for sharing. ;)

Its a step forward to living inside your computer or real time VR on a world wide scale if thats what you want... :dizzy:
(As much as i like gaming..well this game lol.. i dont play any others.. why anyone would is beyond me with a whole reality out there for you to explore but the implications as it will be first marketed & already has been to a degree for the physically disabled & gaming entertainment are quite astounding)

Where it heads from there is the worrying part once you start to factor in things like AI & human nature...

Ive voiced my distaste of our connection with facebook many times on here & now with the direction Zuckerberg is taking his platform

( it was never good from the start it is & always has been one big information gathering machine essentially starting just as a pick up guide for college guys that went worldwide & therefore much bigger agendas)

& the absolute clearly proven lack of care towards its users & their personal info on there not to mention the bombardment of self esteem targeted advertising.....
The sooner BVG gives it the complete flick & moves to its own self reliant platform the better regardless of where gaming eventually will be heading being Virtual Reality systems...

Zuckerberg is no dummy he knows exactly where the technology ladder is heading he is not just happy with owning the worlds largest social media platform he wants to control what will essentially become the cyberverse or innerverse a virtual reality world.... why they are calling it the "meta" verse is very very interesting indeed but not as interesting as Zuckerberg leading the charge... ;)

Relivant thread & interesting article in the link... maybe not directly relivant to our game at this very moment but most definately in the future i dunno if i would describe it as cool but thanks for posting

JT <]:O) :bye:

If you guys, haven't already seen it I recommend the film: Ready Player One (same one referenced in the article). It is a great look / insight into what may indeed become our reality in the not so distant future. It's also a good 'easy to watch' film. lol

I saw it a couple of years ago and was like naaah this could't really happen in my lifetime. But oh boy, every day feels like we are inching closer to this kind of reality. :dizzy: :dizzy: :wailing:

I told him he did the right thing because Viking Andrew told us to report threads in the wrong forums because there's no way they can check every thread. I explained that there is no need to say anything, just quietly click the X and there's a drop-down specifically for threads in the wrong forums. (Which corroborates that the Vikings want these reported.)

(Only related to iibZ' comment above: I don't think we should be telling "new" people that "senior" people are beyond question, etc. As far as I know, we are all equal here. Not to mention... aren't we trying to grow the forums and have more people be(come) active? That kind of reply isn't conducive to that.)

This thread is asking if YoWorld would be better on Metaverse. I think that's related. (Could be wrong - Vikings define that. Anyone who thinks it isn't, click the X, and Vikings or mods will decide.)

Sami's thread was about Facebook changing its name to META. I don't think that's related to YoWorld. (Again, could have been wrong, but the Vikings did move it, so it seems to be correct.)

Meta just happens to be in both because it's the latest frontier and buzzword. There's no connection between the two.

Hope that clarifies things?

Thanks for the heads up JT, I watched it last night. You coulda said it was a 'Dexter' v G Butler film and I woulda been sold straight away. :haha: Some heavy hitting actors involved in that project.

But damn what a concept! Now that plot was mind-blowing. Wouldn't have said it was either man's best acting performance but yea it does give you a more adult perspective into the whole metaverse concept.

I find it a little frightening, but it won’t get that far in my lifetime, so...

This is an “old” movie now, but did anyone see the movie Demolition Man? Sylvester Stallone thinks he’s gonna get it on with Sandra Bullock, but she puts a VR headset on him and he’s just bombarded with sensations, instead.

We’re already losing plain old human interaction compared to a generation ago. I think it would be sad to lose any more. At the same time, though, I love the thought of “travel” being more accessible, and things like that.

(Plus, can you imagine the conspiracy theories? OMG...)
