I never noticed that til just now.

I bought it when it came out and I can't believe I never noticed that black.

I'm liking it a lot with the 2 combo colors, but was it always this way?

It's dark blue and lighter blue, i wouldnt say its black.
But yeah, its always been that way.

May be it is my hat that's making it black looking, but on my screen I am seeing half black.

For me it's light blue fading to a darker one, I think you see it black because of your screen.
Colors differ between screens so that is probably it.

I just looked at it in the store again and its definitely on a color scale, the left side being the darkest and fading to a lighter, brighter blue in each section c:
