I'm a little sad about the rating for my entry today. I never won any decor contest ever and I am really doing my best to hit that 5.8 bonus and win the 30 yocash! Unfortunately, It's another defeat today. I brought home the 3.8 bonus, but I was hoping atleast for 4.8 bonus lol, for staying up late last night brainstorming decorating my room. Do you guys have any suggestion/tips, how to have a high chances of winning the decor contest? I really want to win 30yocash in the decor contest, even just once

Your room looks beautiful. For some context: So far, I've gotten maybe 5-6 rooms that rated 5.8 in the last 3 years or so of submitting entries pretty faithfully, so please don't take it personally that you aren't getting the highest score. It's pretty rare as far as I can tell and can be such a crap shoot.

I've spent hours on rooms and gotten a low score and thrown something together much less creatively and gotten a 5.8 before. All you can do is try your best- make a room YOU like. That way, no matter what you end up with a room you're proud of and can use. You will eventually get one.

I love how you set the fence and the fountain against the house. I would have never thought to create that fountain with the wooden border you used and think it's really pretty and fits the theme wonderfully. You have some nice details in that screen shot and it shows you put time into it.

A 3.8 seems very low for the room you created: is the theme code maxxed out to 0.80? If not, try working on that. You can sometimes hide the theme's tiles from YoDepot in a room if you don't like or have enough items from the current theme. It takes a bit of money but they can help you max the room out.

So sorry for your low score in that contest. I am going to move this thread over to the discussions thread so that other decorators can post some pointers.

I never score well in these contest mainly because I don't put any effort into the decorating challenges. I'm more of a fashionista player so I am of no use in giving advice.

Isla gives great advice though. You can only try your best and hope for the best.
