I think it is counterproductive to recruit new players prior to fixing everything completely, because once you lose a player it is really very difficult to get them back.

but when they do advertise they should focus on targeting non-gamers by advertising on inexpensive venues such as pinterest, yahoo answers, and youtube by making clips, quotes, and memes ppl will want to share with friends.

yoville because of its social nature has the potential to become a household name in English speaking countries hopefully bvg will see that potential and take advantage of it 8-)

It's great that they repaired the admin controls and have begun to put us on a stable footing ...

I think the news is starting to spread, I have seen hot dogs being posted from people that havent posted one in ages ... so I do wonder if we are going to slowly see the daily number increase - there is also cross game promotions that would cost very little -- with Yo being in part a decorating type game it would only be natural I think to cross promote -- I can see many people doing both (I am)

Then Z relied on those Facebook promotions to promote Yoville - and I figured as we develop that we might see some of the groups that wish to be larger taking advantage of the some of the least costly ways to promote their groups or pages -- that of course is all good and free advertising that never hurts.

Advertising promotions - that takes some time and planning. Even if you can get a company that is willing to coop all or most of the cost, that just takes time...but I'm sure as things move from security issues into the creative - we could see real changes there as well? That there will be quite a bit of promotion done in different ways.

Its an Exciting new day for us :) I wish BVG all the best with YOWorld :)

It's all very well to advertise the game and get new players, but don't you think new players will be a bit intimidated when they find out that the average price of a bowl of strawberries is 600k or a costume is 12mil. And then they go to the factory and get their 300 coins, do some maths and find out it will take them about 2 years to buy a bowl of strawberries.

Would you play that game?

While it's nice to see old faces around, the game needs new players. If you were in charge of marketing at Big Viking Games, what would you do to try to make the game more popular?

I'd personally focus on other platforms, such as Twitter and Instagram, and try to recruit new players from those sites and push them to use their Facebook accounts to play YoWorld. If BVG has a large marketing budget, they could also air commercials - imagine if you saw one that said ''Are you a loner, come join YoWorld today. The only place where insane people can feel normal.''  Yeah, that's a bad idea but you get the idea.

What'd you suggest that BVG do?

There needs to be a raise at the factory so when new players go to the store they dont die of a heart attack. To get them to try the game, I reckon some good 'ol fb marketing. There needs to be an emphasis on how players can chat live in game. Thats the one feature that sells Yo over other games like farmville etc. I would buy a t-shirt in a heart beat too.

That is a great point, I wish all players would realize that game value has gotten out of control.

I dont think the problem is getting new people to try the game, it's going to be getting them to stay. A lot of my friends that played always quit mainly for the same reason, the game was to expensive. That was mostly in 2010. They would flip if they saw the price of things now! Could you imagine for someone new how ridiculous the prices of some items are. I think at best all we can hope for is that some of the older players that quit may decide to come back and give it another shot. Someone familiar with the nature of the beast we call Yoworld.LOL

To recruit new players BVG should just do the opposite of whatever Zynga did.

I think being able to get your "yo" made into a keychain figure (like those we've seen) would be cool.
