Weren't they initially? As for the timer, idk. I got one right when they came out so I really don't care. If they changed it, maybe they're trying to prevent jacking? Or maybe it's an experiment? Doesn't matter to me one way or another.

Yep just checked, it clearly says expires in 10 days.

yes, just looked, there is a timer.. I don't think it was there to start, but... with the saying they may be back... leads me to think they will be treated like gary pants, they may be brought back ...

for me, I would like collectables to be the same idea as it was before.. separate section for collectables, no confusion .. simple, easy, pleasey

I'm certain the timer's been there since the release. And the funny message might be to remind people that price jacking could lead to it being released again.

No difference to before. Things can be brought back except collectibles (although Z did bring back the mafia henchmen which was a collectible). When things leave they are unlikely to be back but who knows..... It's all part of the risk

Gary did say in his live chat a couple of weeks ago that they may like to bring some items that they have removed from the store back into the game now and then. Perhaps this is going to be one such item or perhaps not. I think the stance BVG has taken with regard to not re-releasing any items that were once fairly available to all players and then removed from the store applies only to the old Zynga themes. I don't blame them for reserving the right to bring back some of their own released items from time to time, possibly to allow them to be available to new players etc? This is their game now and their rules...not Zyngas. I think we need to sit tight and see where they plan to make changes. People want to see a more level playing field on a go forward basis and I guess that makes the decisions they are faced with pretty challenging right now. I personally love a little mystery...makes the game strategy a little more challenging in a real-life stock market"ish" kind of way.

I agree Spaz - the almost safe idea we used to have about stockpiling and making a profit seems to be slowly ebbing away. I have not purchased multiples of items for holding as I used to. This clearly has impacted on the amount of yc I actually need to spend in game. And for me - the fact that uncertainty that still surrounds the re- release of whatever item makes me unmotivated to buy items like I used to.

ya... it sucks that the hackers made all those fake items.. not just the fg, but all the hacked items.. if that wasn;t done.. the game would be thriving as it always did.. people wanted limes, the hackers got them limes.. people wanted WGN hair.. bam.. hackers made that too.. and the celtic cross was a made item as well.. they ruined the game, zynga couldn't battle it... bvg is left to clean up the mess.... they even hacked into the forums.. put porn on it I heard ... then that time wowox did something that caused faceboook to remove yo for security reasons...

I am very surprised that any company willingly bought the game... huge hill to climb for bvg... and with this 'passionate' bunch of players... it's that much more difficult

no, that is a part of the game!

It's only a part of the game because people have made it a part of the game. What sets this game apart is not the "flipping and hoarding" is the social aspect of it. People didn't take the 'Net in droves and create heartfelt videos so that they could "flip and hoard" virtual items. They did it to maintain social connection. The "flipping and hoarding" is what it's turned into for some people.

you can have that social connection without virtual items...
unless the people you are social with are charging you, that is a whole different can of worms
