Maybe I'm misinterpreting what the term means altogether. And by asking this, I am not baiting, I am asking for clarification. I think we all have vastly different definitions of these terms we're using and therein lies the problem.

I will give you one.....the other night a forum member was having a "dispute" with a few others about moving on and leaving things in the past. This same person made a post referencing another forum member who was not involved, but previously had some disputes with the people this member was fighting with. They didn't name them, but it was CLEARLY directed to the other player. The sad thing about it was that person has moved on and let it go. I have no problem with the person who baited the other player personally, but I did think it wasn't necessary at all to try to cause further problems between players.

I won't judge them for what they did. I guess in the heat of the moment, we do and say things that aren't the best choices. My point is, you can not behave and act like others are being bullies and ganging up on you when you engage in the very same behavior.

I apologize in advance if the post is confusing. I won't use names.

Not confusing at all and I agree.

I was there to witness that exchange go down. I got involved because I felt strongly that it was wrong that this person was trying to "out" the other person's former name (if she did in fact, have a former name). My involvement could be construed as bullying, but I was sincerely just sad for this person being outed because they seemed to truly be looking for a fresh start, but the outer wasn't going to let them have one. I kept my mouth shut the first day she bullied her, but the second day I finally said something.

So, my concern is that lines are getting blurred with these new rules. Do we just sit there and watch the girl wanting a fresh start get personally attacked? Is defending her becoming a bully yourself even though it seems like the most natural thing to do?

Ain't it, though?? :P

I don't see what the big deal is... or why people are worried. If you're doing nothing wrong then you'll be fine. It's not like Gary and the BVG team are gonna go on a ban spree without seeing what is actually going on.

Gary Stevenson wrote:Hey YoFans,

As you know, we created the forums to be a fun place to hang out and talk Yo. For the most part, it all works beautifully and we're all the better for it.

However, as of late we've noticed a worrying trend of people being hostile, insulting or aggressive towards other users, including belittling them, calling them out for no reason or just generally being mean to them.

We've stated this before, but I will unequivocally state it again for anyone who missed it. If you post with the intent of being mean about someone, either directly or indirectly, you may lose your forum access. Additionally, as the forums are an extension of the game, and someone who is abusive on the forum is likely to also be abusive in-game, you may lose your game access too.

Being snarky or witty at someone else's expense isn't worth it. If you can't post nicely, don't post at all. Thanks!

Read and understood.
it is not nice to be mean.
Thank you for keepin our forums nice.

I agree with this. :)

We definitely do not need anyone bullying others, although I personally feel that word gets thrown around a bit too often here. When someone does not agree with another person's point of view, it is not bullying. People need to understand that if you are posting your opinion on an open forum, you will not always get the reactions you want to see. Obviously when disagreeing you should be respectful, but I have seen even the most respectful replies being lumped in and called bullying. I hope that when posts are reported (and I feel bad for those who have to read through them  ) the mods look at the WHOLE thread. Many times the very ones who are crying victim are the biggest instigators and baiters.

Honestly though, there is no one on this forum who is worth losing your account over. The game is way more fun than the forums anyway. :)

EDIT to add: I do think the ignore button would solve many problems.

Well said and I couldn't agree more!
