I don't know why they took it out either, I'm not sure we ever even got an answer. It just vanished for no apparent reason lol

From what I remember...

It was in store and taken out because it didn't work. Z fixed it and put it back in store and then it was removed again without warning.

I have been told when it was put back in store, it was put back in on a timer. But I don't remember said timer.

I agree the item was only released for a few minutes, and a lot of people were not given a fair shot at it because of that. If it had been a few days I would say it was officially released.. but I cannot agree because of the time factor involved.

Nifty niffler (7573493) wrote:yes - the cross was available for a very very short time and pulled without warning. I didn't even have a chance to see or buy the item as I was asleep (I live in England) when the whole thing happened - though I was a very active player at the time.
This was not an item that everyone had a chance to buy and therefore I feel it cannot be compared to any item that was pulled with a timer.

Was it? I don't even remember. I had already bought one when they first came out so I guess that's why I never paid attention to it.

There is a difference between items that everyone had the same access to and items that were available for 5 minutes and pulled and were luck of the draw.

For what it's worth, I'll mention again...I'm a long time CC owner and I don't mind this release. I knew it was coming pretty much.

The only reason I didn't turf mine is because on the longshot they weren't going to release it. Even though I was 99% sure they would, I could not risk it because it tied my room together. I evaluated it in my head: Lose 15-20m coins in value or be assured the room would forever be intact. I chose the room. I have no regrets and no hard feelings.

3. Will old items and collectibles be re-released?
Gary: If the item was officially released previously and everyone had the opportunity to get it, then no. We know item rarity and value is very important to the players, and we respect that.

I do not think so, I think it was the time issue involved with this piece and not the money.. to many items they can release for the same amount or even just half as much and make a nice profit off of. Greg stated a bit ago the time issue of this piece was a big factor in whether it was considered an official release. Not everyone even knew it had even been in the store when it was removed.. to be honest if they were to do that now we would scream about the unfairness of it and demand it put back in store for days not minutes.

With a big loan hanging over their head, wonder if this was a deciding factor for Bvg to do what they do. I lost a lot of item value also in the past but have come to personally accept it that words can change or interpreted differently to suit business needs. Who knows if my cat clock, chicken tub and other stuff comes out again. When I bought them that time was cause I liked the look, never thought it would rise in value. Maybe I'll get few more and put in more houses.

Okay, my question is who said it was in the store for 5 minutes........ Did BVG just take players word for that? My point is, if the release was questionable in any way, why not just make a new cross?

It's also interesting to see how the "history" of the Celtic Cross is being revised tonight to support arguments against releasing it.

Old story: It was a short time release of a few minutes before being pulled from store.

New story (that I have never heard before tonight): It was a short time release of a few minutes before being pulled from store, but was then put back in store on an official timer, thus making it fairly available to all players.

I'm not really buying the New Story. Sorry.

I gave away almost all my wearables when Z____ said they were shutting the game down. Well, we survived! When we moved to BVG, a friend was kind enough to return my Ninja costume to me. It didn't make a whole lot of sense to me to have just one costume when I knew i could never afford to buy back what I had given away. So, I put the Ninja in the AH with an initial bid of 1 mil, no buyout, 24 hr premium auction. I didn't know what to expect. Anyway, I wound up with 18 mil for it. A few nights later i saw an event offering the Cross at 18 mil. I had coveted that item since the start, so i spent the bulk of my little fortune on it. I was in love with the game again! lol

So, it comes out for 29 yo...no Ninja, a virtually "worthless" Cross. Broke. Not a good feeling.

The cat clock never came back on a timer either. It was pulled and that was it.

I don't think BVG is intentionally vague, but just seeing the progression of the statements on rereleases/release it is very much open interpretation. Before today, it wasn't very clear to me from anything that I read that an item that was officially in stores regardless of time would be rereleased. Basically saying if it was in stores then it's considered to have been fair for everyone to get unlike the unreleased items that made their way in the game. Fairness hinging on the fact that it was simply in the store. So this is all about semantics and interpretations. It wasn't clear until the statement was made in the thread today that "time" would be a consideration for rerelease.

If they start bending the rules or cutting corners then they may as well just give in and give everyone what they want. Me me me. The end result is they angered some strong supporters with their poor wording and fuzzy logic. They all dread that feeling of here it comes again.

It was taken out because according to Zynga there was an issue with the code and the wagging of the tail. They said their techs would work on it and put it back. It never came back.

I have no idea if that's the truth, but that was their official statement.
