I feel like i read the wiki a lot just for nostalgia purposes (I've been playing since about 2010 give or take) but also to see what things I might have missed during my many breaks and absences over the years, I also really like seeing all of the original concept art and overall just old YoVille themed articles, honestly someone out there should make an iceberg for this game, there's so much history and I don't think it's talked about enough.

Also if anyone decides to make an iceberg if there isn't already, let me know, maybe I can help, if not an iceberg maybe give me ideas on what to put on a iceberg and what layer so that I could put it together one day potentially.

P.S I realize this sounds very gen z of me and that's because I am haha. ;)

ok I have this really weirdo memory of standing in the factory with like 20 or more other players it was a great place to chat and add buddies

There was a line up to go to work all the time like every time and to control the masses Bob had a sidekick
I remember Bob having a sidekick an NPC who said things like "click the triangle to go to work" and "form an orderly line "
He stood on the corner , you could click him or Bob
but I can't find any screenshots of inside the factory from 08 and 09 ,

so yeah really weird memory of the game that I can't prove as I can't find any pics
this was from before the sweets factory and the grand re-opening
before the widget builder machine was added , even before we had levels

I think every long term player is a part of that history. Yo is what it is because people put their creative energy into it. They found people to bond with and Yo created a feeling for them that they still remember to this day. And every once in a while, that feeling can still be found - if even for a moment. I call it "Yo magic", but it's what happens when players get to together and create fun and share silliness.

Life is hard. Each of us has our struggle with it. But in Yo, we all find an escape through relationships, creativity, and the distractions that Yo provides. Of course we are interested in Yo's history - it is ours.

This is actually really interesting as I'd have never of known about this by myself, I did some searching and i actually did find a single video featuring the other NPC though he doesn't talk in it, it wouldn't surprise me if he did and we just didn't see it in the video! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tsZ7MqZTrxU

They have! But even then, there is still information not even present there! (Such as the NPC discovery above.) Also icebergs are a fun genre as they allow people who are interested to go seek out even more information, give them a starting point, a lot of YouTubers cover them and I might even try my hand at it.

Not a YoWorld specific memory, but definitely part of the games history, I remember when YoVille changed the factory to a Sweets factory where we had to cook items to earn coin, most items burned & players lost money instead of earning it. OMG I have never seen players revolt the way they did then. Protests everywhere in the games community areas, at one point they "burned the factory down". To this day you can find protest pics online & some players even created video protests. It worked too. We got the original factory back. Image Image Image

I was at that protest! Wearing my barrel costume. We didn't like that bakery b/c it meant we had to be on at a certain time or our cookies would burn and we'd lose everything.

I dont mean to sound stupid, but what do you mean by make an Iceberg? I mean are you saying, like make a website record of the games history? (obviously as you know there already is the wiki, so thats kinda covered to a point), but I can only assume you mean something more nuanced than that? otherwise you wouldn't use the word iceberg. :eh:

this was my Sweets Factory
September 2009
as you can see I couldn't bake anything as no ovens they didn't load for me
a choice would have been good , the coin amount was better if you could remember to log in at the right time which those who played the farm game could do , lots did the math for that

only mine just didn't ever work ...ever

So basically on the internet there are a type of media called "Iceberg Charts" with layers of knowledge, the tip of the iceberg being the most known information while the bottom layers being things you might not have known about or have little information regarding them, here's an example of how it would look but imagine having each layer have a line of information which can be researched personally or somebody speaking can explain it in a video, there are many of these out there with videos usually to go with them for just about any topic out there from video games and tv shows to in real life places you can or cannot visit.

Knowledge about any topic is a tenuous beast. We all retain the bits that matter to us, but we rarely seek more for the sake of knowing more. Most people are quite happy with the surface layer of any iceberg. And when it comes to Yo, most are quite happy knowing about the surface of the game.

I like learning more about Yo, but I'd never do what Anthony did in building and fleshing out the wiki. I'd be wrong way too many times LOL. I'm glad for those who love documenting the iceberg, because I do like to look things up when they are relevant. I'm just not a scribe when it comes to minutiae.
