I've been playing Yoworld for a long time. I took a break when things were out of control with scamming, hacking and bullying but delightedly came back when BVG bought the game from Don't-Care-Zynga. I haven't been disappointed. BVG have been FABULOUS!

But it seems there's a new sting and the scammers are now out in force posing as Noob players. I used to gift things to noobs so they can sell the item to raise some coins. Recently I've been gifting things and getting attitude in return - like the gift wasn't good enough. I'm now suspicious and do my best to check people out - you know - like checking how many homes they have.

Yesterday I went to a "give away" event thinking I'd find some noobs I could gift. There was a player who looked like a noob and was polite, asking for help but not begging. She only had an apartment, which I visited, and hadn't levelled up enough for the hallway to be open. So I started gifting her. My gift thingie was so slow to load that I cancelled and when I did the noob player was in the room and another player was entering. The other player, a male, was dressed in the MOST expensive "hot" items and said nothing at all. The noob player asked who I was and I explained I was intending to gift the noob player. She tried to trade with me. What genuine noob does that? I think the silent player was the noob's alter account come to collect the booty from the noob's previous foray.

I'm also perplexed by the number of events from people claiming to be noobs and begging for help - asking, or even demanding to be given a lot of coins. When I first started playing Yo I had no idea about events. It took me ages to start going to them and even longer before I hosted one. I wonder how many people with banned accounts are coming back in and scamming to get ahead??

Anyway, I'm not gifting noobs anymore. I'm sorry for the genuine noobs who'll be tainted with this sting from scammers, but it's too hard to tell the difference.

There are still some baddies out there. People who have joined three days ago with the most expensive items around, the banned people are trying to come back. They need to give it up already.

Sorry to hear about that I know a way you can tell if they really are new is if they ask how does this and that work but as a caution I gift people only the 1 cent items mainly cause their very cheap and if you save loads of those you could gift spam your arch nemeses with them.

It has always been this way, I stopped a long time ago because most begging is from alt accounts

in my opinion the best noobs to help out are the ones who are having cheap yard sales. if they are spending their times selling "junk" for 100c, chances are they legitimately need the helping hand

that's not true... I enjoy hosting 100c yard sales to get rid of freebies and help "noobs".
however lately trading has been a pain in the butt, the lag makes me limit to auction house only. :|

OP I have run into this same thing.I have even come here and did as you.You getting kinder remarks than I ever do.They are horrible to me and some even say its funny to them.I know EXACTLY what you mean.I too have stopped.Haven't helped in a week now.I was kicked a few times after helping these so called Noobs.
I try to stop helping but when I see the events I remember to when I was new and some helped me,I never asked or made event but was helped.I NEED to help others..Its a NEED..

I don't know if it work or not but if Vikings made it so we can't change names in game for a while they could possibly take out the alt's when they make begging events.

Yep. I don't gift noobs anymore, either... unless I'm certain they're really new. But it's hard to tell. And sometimes they don't even say thanks. It's rather annoying.

Today when I was at an 08/09 auction, there was a noob who entered the room asking to buy my hair for 320c (it was the St. Patty's hair which is worth around 6-7m).
I, of course respectfully declined but instead offered the noob 50k to help get started off in YoWorld as he was yet to earn any badges. The noob took my 50k, then only once he'd already accepted it he said he didn't want or need it and offered the 50k to other players in the room. He said he didn't want the 50k but instead wanted my hair. I ignored his pathetic rudeness but other players got involved and told him he shouldn't be ungrateful and they said he should return the 50k back to me if he wasn't going to use it.
The noob traded me and showed me that he in fact had over 3 million coins, but he still didn't give me the 50k back. He just poofed!

That's the last time I give out money or gifts to noobs also. I've always given gifts and coins away to new players because I want more people to play YoWorld and get involved in our community but I'm not doing it any more.

If I had any junk left which I don't I'd give it out outside altons
quick look at badge ..here you go noob have a 2010 xmas pudding and a credenza
The reason I don't have much junk left sold most of it in AH some so called junk sells for a bit so if you are new selling a 2010 xmas freebie for 8k in AH is a PILE of coinage even with 10% off
I do agree with some others here though some noobs aren't new to the game at all

That's what I do. You can usually tell if they are new by the stuff they are trying to sell and the prices. I had a newbie sell me one of those '10 game counsels I think they are called (white box with a Y) for 30c. I gave her 10k. I'm not sure if she noticed until I was gone.
