Someone mentioned this idea on another thread and I think it is a good idea. I would like to see people have to sign in to read what is here.

Can you elaborate on the thought behind this idea? :)

Leave it to Gary & BVG to make us think about what we say we are wanting. :)

I can't think of a specific example but like the idea over all.

It is my understanding that to view what is going on in the game, you need to be signed in. Therefore, anything I am doing in there is visible only to those signed in. I believe this should be set up the same way. I don't need the world, for instance knowing if I have or do not have a gold supporter badge. I do not need those who have been banned to know my thoughts about banning or anything else involving me. I have no idea if anyone is interested in my comings and goings on here but I would feel better if I knew that only those willing to commit themselves by signing in and being known are viewing what I am saying and doing. In game we interact with many people - most of whom, it seems do not post here. I can understand their need to see the rules and any game updates but in my opinion they do not need to see if I am - purely for example sake - getting along with Samberg.
Perhaps more would become part of this community if they had to sign in to read what is written here. I would love to see more here. I would love to see a more complete and therefore realistic view of what the players think and feel.
We are almost inbred.

Gary, thank you for asking. And thank you for fixing those gold wings. My face does not look fat and they flap.

This idea seems more personal than practical.

Forums is a public place, if there is something you don't want others to know
what you are saying, or have (gold supporter status), then simply do not post. The
way it is set up now, that you have to sign in to reply, I feel there isn't anything wrong with
it as of current. The idea itself is interesting, but no need to hide what you or anyone else is
posting.

Personally, I liked the old forums where I could be signed in, but hide my online status, so unless I posted no one knew whether I was there or not.

Google and Yahoo bots cache the forums for search purposes. Making it private would be cutting the nose off to spite the face. Just like the #1 rule of the internet... if you don't want someone knowing your business out here, don't put it out here. *shrug*
