I believe that you can delete a THREAD that u start if it's done pretty quickly and has no replies. Other than that, on your post there is an edit button at the top of the post. There is also a delete button but I'm not sure how long it stays there after the post is made.

comment is the same as a post. once someone has commented on YOUR comment, it can't be deleted. All u can do is edit it but even then, that post, if "quoted" by someone else is still there.

If you make a comment then go look at it right away you will see an "x"...but it doesn't stay there long at all.

yes, I see that now. So basically, if your post is the last one on a thread, it can be deleted.
