It's literally my first day playing.

I joined a room, let them know I am new, and was told that I am not new because I actually put a lot of effort into decorating my apartment. Asserting that I am indeed new was met with "Drop it."

This is a symptom of a toxic community, and I am tired of that sort of thing from other places. I hope very much that I just had the bad luck of having this be my first "Events" experience, and the attitudes therein were not the attitudes of those who play here at-large. Elitism leads to stagnancy. Stagnancy will hurt New Vikings, because with discouragement in a game that's meant to be social, newbies won't find other newbies, will feel ostracised, and will definitely spend neither time nor money here.

The worst part is, for every person like me who knows the value of speaking up, there are ten or more who will quietly just find some other game to play.

Fortunately, I know that the first impression isn't always going to be accurate.

I just noticed that my "start date" is as old as it is.

I didn't lie when I said this was my first day playing. I didn't create an avatar or anything til today.

However, I did try to play here before, probably on that date.

I'm pretty sure clicking to play a new game, and being unable to do or see anything once there, doesn't count as playing.

Sorry you had to run into a rude person on your first day! I think the majority of people here are great but there are those rotten apples to contend with just like in real life. I have been kicked out of a room for asking a question...lol I try not to take it personally. I played for a few months in 2009 but didn't come back until one year ago so I am relatively new also even tho I have a high level and early start date. Hang in there, it's a fabulous game!

I was here a whole year and everyone laughed at me!. I was determined not to leave my apartment! I put a tree in the living room. and then this idiot of a person I am I deleted my pink toilet because I thought it was so stupid to have a bathroom in Yoworld. why do we need a bathroom anyway.
no one goes to the bathroom together!

so then after I threw the pink toilet away I leveled up to anther room and I could not find my hallway to that bathroom. I was so lost. That was after a whole year of this! ANYway. you are not going to allow some odd people to make or break your day. That is not life and that is not good. find good people.
welcome to the forum. and welcome to yoworld.

hi
someone here has told this "Live your life the way you choose. Let me do the same. Just remember that your way is not my way and we will get along just fine."
it's good, not let people upset you, never

It's funny that you mentioned your "official" start date that's in your profile not being the date you actually started playing, because it's the same for me. I do think I might have tried to play once just over a year ago, but for some reason that was it. I'm not sure if I didn't understand something or what ... but I'm so glad I gave it a second chance. I am addicted to YoWorld! I haven't talked to very many people, but those I have are great! I still definitely consider myself a newbie, because I'm too shy to do much more than decorate my rooms. (I barely leave my own houses, unless it's to go shopping or complete a challenge. I wish I was brave enough to do more, but maybe down the road I will be ...) LOL During my first week, I asked a question in the forum, and the nicest person not only (very patiently) answered my questions, but also gave me a bunch of gifts to get me started. (I can't think of any reason she would mind me saying who she is, but I don't know for sure ... so I guess I probably shouldn't.) It sucks that your first day was a bad one, but I hope you'll hang in there because I'm sure it will get better. Like I said, there is a lot that I don't know, but if you have any questions, feel free to ask me and if it's something I know about, I'll be happy to help. Good luck and welcome. :bye:
